SPECIAL NEEDS DOG - "BATMAN" - VOTED AMERICA'S HAPPIEST DOG IN THE HUB TV NETWORK'S "PUP-ULARITY CONTEST"

"Pound Puppies" Star Yvette Nicole Brown Announced Winner During Network's "Dog Days of Summer" Programming Event

Batman to Receive Ultimate Puppy Pampering Trip to Hollywood; Other Prizes Include Donation to Petfinder Foundation

LOS ANGELES - The Hub TV Network, a television network for kids and their families, announced that a special needs dog named "Batman" was voted America's Happiest Dog in "The Hub's Pup-ularity Contest." The photo of the black Samosa Mountain Dog from Davis, CA, received the most votes from among the nearly 2,500 photos submitted of smiling pups nationwide.

Batman, who was paralyzed in his hind quarters after a hit-and-run auto accident last year, was unveiled as the winner on-air during a special marathon of the popular Hasbro Studios produced series "Pound Puppies" Saturday, August 25. The contest was the culmination of the network's annual "Dog Days of Summer" weeklong programming event. "Dog Days of Summer" spokes-pup Cookie from "Pound Puppies" (voiced by Yvette Nicole Brown, also of "Community") made the official announcement.

Batman is accustomed to beating the odds. In 2011, he was hit by a car and suffered a broken spine and severed spinal cord, losing complete use of his hind legs. He was rescued and outfitted with a dog wheelchair to keep him mobile, giving him a new lease on life. He currently lives in a foster home situation, with 23-year-old veterinary student Eray Bekir who is searching for a permanent home for Batman.

As the winner of "The Hub's Pup-ularity Contest," Batman receives the ultimate puppy-pampering trip to Hollywood, CA, with Bekir and three of his friends, a $2,500 cash prize and a doggie spa gift certificate. Additionally, The Hub will make a $5,000 donation in his name to the Petfinder Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports thousands of animal welfare organizations dedicated to finding loving homes for pets in shelters and rescues (including Love & Second Chances in San Ramon, CA, the local organization working to find Batman a happy permanent home).

For more information on how to adopt Batman, visit Petfinder.com and go to http://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/23456851

"Pound Puppies" is presented on The Hub TV Network Saturdays at 9 a.m. ET.
