SHARKS CIRCLE GOLD MEDALIST MISSY FRANKLIN IN AN UPCOMING EPISODE OF ABC FAMILY'S HIT SERIES "PRETTY LITTLE LIARS"

BURBANK, Calif. (October 16, 2012) - From winning gold medals and setting a world record in London, to grabbing coffee in Rosewood, PA, with the swim team's favorite shark, Missy Franklin - the four-time gold medalist - is set to guest star in an upcoming episode of ABC Family's hit series Pretty Little Liars, produced by Warner Horizon Television.

In the episode, Emily (Shay Mitchell) - a competitive swimmer for the Rosewood High School Sharks swim team - is stunned when Franklin, appearing as herself, turns up at The Brew just to meet her. Once Emily recovers from the shock of meeting the medalist, the two swimmers talk shop.

Franklin became a household name during the 2012 Summer Olympics when she won four gold medals and one bronze. She currently holds the world record in the 200-meter backstroke and the U.S. record in both the 100-meter and 200-meter backstroke.

Pretty Little Liars airs Tuesdays at 8/7c on ABC Family. A special Halloween-themed episode, "This Is a Dark Ride," will premiere Tuesday, October 23rd (8/7c), as part of ABC Family's "13 Nights of Halloween" programming event. Musical guest star Adam Lambert (American Idol) performs his songs "Trespassing" and "Cuckoo" from his latest album during the Halloween festivities being enjoyed by the town of Rosewood. The series will then return with original episodes in January 2013.

Produced by Alloy Entertainment in association with Warner Horizon Television, Pretty Little Liars is executive produced by I. Marlene King, Oliver Goldstick, Leslie Morgenstein and Joseph Dougherty. The series stars Troian Bellisario, Ashley Benson, Tyler Blackburn, Holly Marie Combs, Lucy Hale, Ian Harding, Laura Leighton, Chad Lowe, Shay Mitchell, Janel Parrish and Sasha Pieterse.
