HGTV GREEN LIGHTS HOME RENOVATION COMPETITION SERIES, "BROTHER VS. BROTHER," STARRING POPULAR "PROPERTY BROTHERS"

NEW YORK - November 14, 2012 - With more than 13 million adults tuning into this summer's third season of the Property Brothers and the debut of Buying & Selling ranking as HGTV's highest-rated series premiere among P25-54 in 2012, the network is green lighting a third programming vehicle, Brother vs. Brother, for hosts and twin brothers Jonathan Scott and Drew Scott. A home renovation competition series, Brother vs. Brother pits Jonathan, a licensed contractor, and Drew, a real estate agent, against each other as they each mentor a team of six talented home improvement experts vying for a grand prize of $50,000. Currently in production with a six arc season, Brother vs. Brother is set to premiere in August 2013.

"Complete with high-stakes renovation challenges, Brother vs. Brother is an exciting home renovation competition series featuring Jonathan and Drew, two of HGTV's most popular, break-out stars, who will mentor a new generation of home improvement experts," said Kathleen Finch, HGTV's general manager. "Brother vs. Brother is the perfect anchor to our summer programming slate with its Renaissance-style combination of real estate, renovation and decorating."

Jonathan and Drew, hosts of HGTV's Property Brothers and Buying & Selling, began captivating viewers last year with their knack for finding their clients down-and-out fixer uppers and turning them into perfect properties. But this time around, the brothers are facing a new challenge: coaching multi-talented home improvement experts in the art of renovating, decorating and increasing real estate values.

In each one-hour episode of Brother vs. Brother, Jonathan and Drew's teams of home improvement experts, including renovators, builders and designers, will be assigned properties of similar value and structure - condos, ranch houses, bungalows, mansions, and more. In an effort to boost property values with smart renovation choices, each team will be given limited time and budget to determine which elements of the property should change and which ones should remain the same. Each brother will mentor his respective team by providing advice and sharing experience, but it will ultimately be up to the competitors to make smart choices and the final decisions. With the primary goal to increase the value of each home, one renowned appraiser and real estate expert will judge the overall renovation and reassess the values of the properties to select one clear cut winner. Each week, the competitor who can't seem to cut it is eliminated from the competition from the brother who mentored him/her. The last one standing wins a $50,000 cash prize and one Scott brother will walk away with bragging rights as HGTV's home renovation coach of the year.

Viewers can currently catch Jonathan and Drew on HGTV every Wednesday night, beginning with the Property Brothers at 8 p.m. ET and Buying & Selling at 9 p.m. ET. The third season of Property Brothers debuts on Wednesday, Jan. 9 at 9 p.m. ET. For additional dates and times, visit HGTV.com. Viewers can also become fans of HGTV and interact with other home improvement enthusiasts through Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram.
