"CURIOSITY" TRACES HOW HUMANS BECAME THE MOST SUCCESSFUL SPECIES ON THE PLANET
"Mankind Rising," premieres Sunday, Nov. 25 at 9 PM E/P on Discovery Channel's CURIOSITY series
(Los Angeles, Calif.) -- Over the past three and a half billon years our ancestors have fought for survival and have been forced to make a stark choice: adapt or die. But how did we get here? How did mutations create male and female sexes? And were we actually fish at one point during the evolutionary chain?
"Mankind Rising," airing Sunday, Nov. 25 at 9 PM E/P on Discovery Channel's CURIOSITY series, traces our epic and treacherous journey from the first spark of life that exploded billions of years ago up to humans' present status as the most successful species on the planet.
Based on the latest research, the episode follows the sequence of events that led to life as we know it and pieces together the extraordinary story of our journey in one animated shot. Along the way, countless creatures have died and natural selection has helped our ancestors to adapt and survive. This is the improbable story of human existence - where we've risen from raw materials of Earth to the big-brained, two-legged mammals we are today. One change or predator along the way and this story would have never been told.
"Mankind Rising" is produced by Pioneer Productions for Discovery Channel. CURIOSITY is overseen by Vice President, Development and Production Howard Swartz and Senior Vice President, Development and Production Simon Andreae.
