BETTY WHITE NOMINATED FOR THIRD CONSECUTIVE SCREEN ACTORS GUILD AWARD(R) FOR TV LAND'S "HOT IN CLEVELAND"
New York, NY - December 12, 2012 - Betty White has once again been honored with a Screen Actors Guild Award(R) nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series for her role as Elka Ostrovsky on TV Land's "Hot in Cleveland" for the upcoming 19th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards(R), it was announced this morning from the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood. "Hot in Cleveland" also stars famed comedic actresses Valerie Bertinelli ("One Day at a Time"), Jane Leeves ("Frasier") and Wendie Malick ("Just Shoot Me"). White has won the SAG Award(R) for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series for the past two years for the same role.
"I am so appreciative of this nomination - and it's really for all four of us on 'Hot in Cleveland,' not just for me," said Ms. White.
Larry W. Jones, president of TV Land, added, "We couldn't be prouder of Betty, and it's wonderful to see that the Screen Actors Guild values her as much as we do. We hit the jackpot when we cast 'Hot in Cleveland' and got these four amazing actresses. Betty brings to the table not only her talent and perfect comedic timing, but also her wealth of experience in television."
"Hot in Cleveland" revolves around three fabulous best friends from LA - Melanie Moretti (Valerie Bertinelli), Joy Scroggs (Jane Leeves) and Victoria Chase (Wendie Malick) - who find their lives changed forever when their plane, headed for Paris, makes an unexpected landing. When the friends discover that life is better for them in Cleveland, they decide to stay. Starting over together, they rent a house that happens to come with a very opinionated caretaker, Elka Ostrovsky (Betty White). The show recently began its fourth season and airs Wednesdays at 10pm ET/PT on TV Land.
Filmed in front of a live audience, "Hot in Cleveland" is executive produced by Emmy(R) Award-winner Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner of Hazy Mills Productions and is helmed by Emmy(R) Award-winning Suzanne Martin ("Frasier," "Ellen") serving as executive producer, show runner and writer. Lynda Obst also serves as executive producer, and Larry W. Jones and Keith Cox are executive producers for TV Land. "Hot in Cleveland" is filmed in front of a live studio audience and is currently seen around the world in over 165 countries.
The 19th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards(R) will be simulcast live nationally on TNT and TBS on Sunday, January 27 at 8pm ET/5pm PT from the Los Angeles Shrine Exposition Center.
