ESPN and Cowboys Extend Cowboys Classic Labor Day Weekend Matchup Through 2024

ESPN and Cowboys Extend Cowboys Classic Labor Day Weekend Matchup through 2024; Florida State to Play Oklahoma State in 2014 Event

ESPN and the Dallas Cowboys have extended their agreement to bring a top college football game to the club's Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas during the Labor Day weekend that traditionally kicks off each season. The extension to continue the Cowboys Classic will begin with the 2015 contest and conclude with the 2024 game.

The 2014 Cowboys Classic, marking the last contest of the current agreement, has also been determined and will pit Florida State against Oklahoma State in prime time on Saturday, Aug. 30. It will be the fifth time the two teams have faced each other and the first since the 1985 Gator Bowl, a 34-23 Florida State victory.

In addition to Florida State vs. Oklahoma State, ESPN and the Cowboys worked together to bring Texas vs. UCLA to Cowboys Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 13.

The 2013 Cowboys Classic on Saturday, Aug. 30, will match LSU against TCU in prime time on ESPN or ABC. Both teams won their only other appearance in the event with then-No. 6 TCU beating No. 24 Oregon State 30-21 in 2010 and then-No. 3 LSU defeating No. 4 Oregon 40-27 in 2011.

ESPN and the Cowboys kicked off their relationship in 2009 with No. 20 BYU beating No. 3 Oklahoma 14-13 in the inaugural Cowboys Classic. This season's showdown saw then-No. 2 Alabama beat No. 8 Michigan 41-14 on its way to a Discover BCS National Championship appearance against Notre Dame (January 7, at 8:30 p.m. ET on ESPN, ESPN Radio, ESPN Deportes and WatchESPN).

Matchups for Cowboys Classic events from 2015 to 2024 are to be determined.
