Showtime at TCA: "Episodes" Won't Be Back Until Early 2014
By Brian Ford Sullivan (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- "It will be on the air fairly early in 2014," Showtime Entertainment President David Nevins said about "Episodes" during his executive session at the TCA Winter Press Tour. "Episodes" was one of the few series not mentioned in today's lengthy premiere date announcements (read the story).

"I love the show. Not my choice but I made a pact with David [Crane] and Jeffrey [Klarik] when we went into this that we would do the show on their schedule," Nevins added. "They write every word, they edit every cut and I said we would produce the show on their schedule. Their schedule won't allow us to get it on the air until 2014."

Other topics covered during the panel:

"Web Therapy" is due back too. Nevins says to expect the new season in the summer, "roughly the same time it was on this last year." The pay channel ordered 10 more half-hour episodes back in November.

No decision yet if this will be the final season of "Dexter." Nevins would only admit that "there's a clear endgame in place, but I can't talk about it just yet."

The return of "The Franchise" is contingent on finding the right team. "We'll continue with the show if we find the right team and the right story and it makes sense," Nevins said. "It's a question of finding the right team."

Matt Damon will guest star on an upcoming episode of "House of Lies." "He comes to those guys to try to figure out how to get a charitable organization so he can start to compete better with [George] Clooney," Nevins teased.

Showtime is up to 22 million subscribers. Nevins touted that they're the only pay channel with consistent subscriber growth in the past few years.
