LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- "My network and I just broke up," actor Echo Kellum posted to his Twitter account upon hearing the news that his freshman comedy "Ben & Kate" has been pulled from FOX's lineup (read the story). "She is a great girl, and I'm glad she gave us a shot as long as she did. I'll miss you."
Creator Dana Fox added her own epitaph a few hours later: "I'm heartbroken but will get back to being funny soon. Thank you to everyone who made this the best experience of my life!!"
Said notes confirm that while its six remaining episodes may turn up later this year, the show itself has been canceled.
"Ben & Kate" posted a 1.2 rating among adults 18-49 last night, a slight uptick from last week's 1.1 rating (tied as its series low). The series opened to a 2.0 rating in the key demographic back in September.
