Network to Air Over 100 Hours of New Original Programming All Summer Long

CHEVY CHASE, MD (March 21, 2013) -Travel Channel announces today the launch of "We Are Summer," a multi-platform programming initiative that celebrates all the fun and adventure that the summer season offers. As part of the Network's continued mission to re-imagine the travel entertainment genre, three new original series and three returning series will roll out under this new banner, and will complement the rest of Travel Channel's summer programming schedule.

"We Are Summer" kicks off Memorial Day weekend with the new original series "Rock My RV with Bret Michaels," the ultimate transformation show that takes well-worn RVs and overhauls them into the most tricked out trailers on the road. Viewers will also head to the beach for "Bikinis & Boardwalks," a coast-to-coast wet and wild trip to the hottest shoreline playgrounds in the country, and "RIDE-iculous," which celebrates all those amazing thrill rides and adrenaline attractions that range from tandem base-jumping to the world's tallest human slingshot. Returning with all-new episodes is "Bizarre Foods America" with Andrew Zimmern, who continues his quest across the United States exploring the bizarre foods and cultures in our own backyard. Additionally, two fan favorites from last summer are back for another season, but this time they are going global: "Xtreme Waterparks," an action-packed, soaked adventure down some of the world's most intense water slides; and "Insane Coaster Wars: World Domination," which takes viewers around the globe to some of the most hair-raising, pulse-pounding thrill rides on the planet.

Over 100 hours of new original programming will be complemented by multiple on- and off-air programming events including the "Rock My RV with Bret Michaels: Epic RV Giveaway" contest on TravelChannel.com. Additional online summer-themed travel content includes vacation and hotel planning tips, summer festivals and events, insane roller coaster polls, road trip planning tips, extreme RV photos, a Rate-My-Beach community, grilling tips, national parks info and more will be featured on the site.
