STYLE MEDIA NAMES MULTI-GRAMMY AWARD WINNER AND FASHION TRAILBLAZER PHARRELL WILLIAMS AS A MENTOR OF NEW COMPETITION SERIES "STYLED TO ROCK"

Music Meets Fashion in Style Network's First Competition Series from Executive Producer Robyn Rihanna Fenty

LOS ANGELES - May 15, 2013 - Style Media announced today that multi-Grammy Award winner and fashion designer Pharrell Williams will serve as one of the mentors on "Styled to Rock," the new reality competition series from executive producer Robyn Rihanna Fenty that searches for the next trendsetting designer. Slated to premiere in 2013, the 10-episode series will give 12 up-and-coming designers the opportunity of a lifetime - to create unique fashion pieces for A-list celebrity talent.

"We are delighted to have Pharrell, who is a driving force in both the music industry and fashion world, serve as a mentor on 'Styled to Rock," said Salaam Coleman Smith, President, Style Media. "Pharrell's unique aesthetic and commitment to individuality combined with Rihanna's vision for this series will enable our aspiring designers to hone their craft and learn from the very people who set the trends."

"Styled to Rock" will give 12 up-and-coming designers the coveted opportunity to dress some of the biggest names in entertainment. Each week, challenges will push the designers to their creative limits when they are tasked with styling an A-list star. The celebrity guest-of-the-week will decide which designer best achieves their vision - and advances to the next level of competition. Faced with the threat of elimination, the remaining designers must meet with the three mentors to discuss where they fell short and ultimately, who will be sent home. In the end, one designer will be named the winner of "Styled to Rock."

Williams is a pop culture icon and creative force with credits that include music producer, recording artist and fashion designer. Williams is also known as the lead vocalist and guitarist for the hip-hop rock band N.E.R.D as well as one half of the production duo The Neptunes. He has been responsible for the success of an expanding roster of projects, which have garnered him 19 Grammy nominations and three Grammy Awards. In 2012, he released his wildly successful book "Pharrell: Places and Spaces I've Been," which gave readers an unprecedented look at his career and creative endeavors thus far. His creative pursuits include his clothing lines Billionaire Boys Club, Billionaire Girls Club, Bee Line, ICECREAM, jewelry and accessories designs for Louis Vuitton, furniture and product design, and collaborations with Moncler, and the artist Takashi Murakami. In addition, Williams established the creative venture, i am OTHER. He describes the new endeavor as "a cultural movement dedicated to Thinkers, Innovators and Outcasts." i am OTHER includes his longtime projects such as music production, record label and apparel lines Billionaire Boys Club and ICECREAM as well as Bionic Yarn, Collaborative Fund, Brooklyn Machine Works and the not-for-profit foundation From One Hand To Another. Also a part of the venture is i am OTHER's YouTube channel, which is part of Google's initiative to create channels with original programming. Its line-up includes the critically acclaimed web series Awkward Black Girl, exclusive interviews from eccentric music journalist Nardwuar and exclusive videos from Williams about everything from music to food.
