PEDRO & MARIA (ABC, New!) - The America Ferrera-produced import of the telenovela - a modern day "Romeo & Juliet" where "he is a second generation Dominican from the mean streets of Washington Heights and she is a Puerto Rican whose parents made millions as real estate developers" - has found a new home at the Alphabet where it is being eyed as a limited series. Said effort was originally developed by MTV in 2010 where audience members would have had the ability to vote and decide on the direction the characters and story lines will take. Ben Silverman also serves as an executive producer alongside Take Fountain's Ferrera via his Electus banner. Quiara Alegria Hudes ("In the Heights") was previously attached to pen the script. UNTITLED RAY WILLIAM JOHNSON PROJECT (FX, New!) - YouTube sensation Ray William Johnson - best known "Equals Three," in which he offers snarky commentary on viral videos - is developing a new comedy at the cable channel. Said effort is being penned by Mike Gagerman and Andrew Waller with Johnson receiving a co-creator credit. No specifics were given about the project, which will also be executive produced by Dave Becky and Troy Zien of 3 Arts Entertainment. (THR.com)
AND IN OTHER NEWS... - Amazon reportedly has given series pickups to its comedy pilots "Alpha House" and "Betas" (Deadline.com); "Mike & Molly" creator Mark Roberts is stepping down as showrunner of the CBS comedy to focus on other projects (Deadline.com); and Cristin Milioti, fresh off being revealed as the title character on "How I Met Your Mother," will be a series regular next season (TVLine.com).
