Development Update: Wednesday, June 26
By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:

Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!

I AM VICTOR (NBC/Universal; W: Mark Goffman; D: TBA) - NBC and Universal Television have extended the options on six cast members of the drama pilot, about a high powered divorce attorney (John Stamos) with a unique view of relationships, including that marriage is just a contract. In addition to Stamos, Matthew Lillard, Angela Sarafyan, Kosha Patel, Josh Zuckerman and McKaley Miller have all been locked up for a potential midseason revival. Said development means fellow co-stars Lorenza Izzo, Megan Dodds and Terry Kinney will presumably be written out or recast. Earlier this month, the network commissioned a rewrite from Mark Goffman to focus more on the legal cases. (Deadline.com)

JANE THE VIRGIN (The CW, New!) - Jennie Snyder Urman ("Emily Owens, MD") is set to import Perla Farias's Venezuelan telenovela, about Jane, "a hard-working, religious girl who, due to a series of outrageous events, is accidentally artificially inseminated." CBS Television Studios, where Urman's overall deal is based, is behind the hour with Gary Pearl, Jorge Granier and Electus' Ben Silverman also among the executive producers. (Deadline.com)

THE LEFTOVERS (HBO/Warner Bros.; W: Damon Lindelof & Tom Perrotta; D: Peter Berg) - Chris Zylka (Amazing Spider-Man) is the latest face bound for the drama pilot, which takes place after the Rapture happens but not quite like it's supposed to. He'll play Tom, "a college dropout who has taken refuge with a mysterious guru." Justin Theroux, Margaret Qualley, Amanda Warren, Ann Dowd, Carrie Coon, Christopher Eccleston, Liv Tyler, Michael Gaston, Charlie Carver, Max Carver, Amy Brenneman, Emily Meade and Jake Robinson round out the ensemble. (Deadline.com)

TO MY ASSISTANT (FOX/Warner Bros.; W: Ellen Kreamer & Sherry Bilsing-Graham; D: Peyton Reed) - Producer Warner Bros. Television has extended the options on co-stars Brittany Snow, Stephen Root, Catherine O'Hara and Jillian Bell. The single-camera project - about the assistants at a big New York law firm who band together as a family to help each other cope with the obnoxious, overbearing bosses - didn't make the cut at FOX during the past development cycle but is reportedly being retooled by the studio. Joe Egender, Melissa Tang and Tone Bell also starred in the original pilot. (Deadline.com)

ZACH STONE IS GONNA BE FAMOUS (MTV) - The cable channel has pulled the plug on its struggling comedy, which stars comedian Bo Burnham as a teenager who, in lieu of college, opts to spend his savings on hiring a camera crew to film his every move in anticipation of fame and fortune. "After careful consideration of many factors, we have ultimately decided not to move forward with an additional season of the series," MTV said in a statement. The series opened to a modest 659,000 viewers on May 2 before being bumped out of prime five weeks later. The show's remaining episodes will air this Thursday and Saturday at 11:00/10:00c. (Deadline.com)

AND IN OTHER NEWS... - "Awkward" creator Lauren Iungerich won't return for a potential fourth season of the MTV comedy (Deadline.com); Dan Lin has inked a new two-year overall deal with Warner Bros. Television, keeping his Lin Pictures banner at the studio (Deadline.com); Alix Jaffe has been tapped to oversee development for Greg Garcia's CBS Television Studios-based Amigos de Garcia Productions (Deadline.com); Ken Marino and Tim Heidecker have both landed roles on the final season of "Eastbound & Down" (Deadline.com); Micah Parker is bound for TNT's "Lost Angels" as mobster Moe "Little Moe" Feltzer (Deadline.com); Frankie Shaw has joined the cast of ABC's "Mixology" as Fabienne, a "frenemy" of Alexis Carra's Jessica (Deadline.com); Eric Winter will succeed the departed Patrick Heusinger as Dash on Lifetime's "Witches of East End" (TVLine.com); and Andrew McCarthy will guest on the season premiere of "Unforgettable" as "a wealthy real estate developer whose 11-year-old daughter has been kidnapped" (THR.com).
