SHOWTIME COMMITS TO AIR NEW DOCUMENTARY "KNOCK KNOCK, IT'S TIG NOTARO"

Acclaimed Comedian Tig Notaro Launches Nationwide Search For Loyal Fans; Will Perform In Their Homes

LOS ANGELES, CA - (July 2, 2013) - SHOWTIME has greenlit a new documentary project from acclaimed comedian Tig Notaro, tentatively titled Knock Knock, It's Tig Notaro. This August, Notaro will travel across the country in order to put on a series of private comedy performances in the homes, backyards, driveways, barns, rooftops and cul-de-sacs of her most loyal fans. These performances will be filmed as part of the documentary. As always, Notaro's nationwide performances will feature special guest appearances from some of her famous and funny friends. Knock Knock, It's Tig Notaro is executive produced by Notaro, along with Ken Druckerman and Banks Tarver of Left/Right (This American Life, Small Town Security) for SHOWTIME. Christopher Wilcha and Michael LaHaie will serve as co-executive producers.

Today, Notaro kicked off a nationwide search for fans who are interested in hosting these home performances and participating in the film. The fans with the most creative entries and compelling "venues" will be selected. Fans can see a video message from Tig herself at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mYZvvKYci5c - and can apply to participate in the film at www.tigroadtrip.com.

Comedian Tig Notaro's sophomore comedy album LIVE sold over 100,000 units in just six weeks, which is unheard of for comedy albums today. In early 2012, Notaro endured a series of back-to-back health crises and personal tragedies that would put most careers on indefinite hold. Instead, she took to the stage. On August 3rd of that year - just a few days after her cancer diagnosis - Notaro put on a show that channeled all of the sadness, pain, terror, suffering and absurdity of the prior four months into a now-legendary set. A tweet from Louis C.K. the next day lit the fuse. "In 27 years doing this, I've seen a handful of truly great, masterful standup sets. One was Tig Notaro last night at Largo." Notaro is slated to appear in upcoming feature films In a World and Walk of Shame. In addition, she has closed a book deal with Ecco, an imprint of Harper Collins, and Business Insider recently included her on their "50 Women Who Are Changing the World" list. Her popular podcast Professor Blastoff has also garnered her a great deal of attention, recently peaking at No. 1 on the iTunes Comedy Podcast Chart.
