BRAD FURMAN SET TO DIRECT BEST-SELLING BOOK SERIES PRIVATE FOR TELEVISION FROM SONAR ENTERTAINMENT AND JAMES PATTERSON ENTERTAINMENT

JANE ROSENTHAL AND ROBERT DE NIRO OF TRIBECA PRODUCTIONS ALSO JOIN AS EXECUTIVE PRODUCERS

NEW YORK, July 9, 2013 - Sonar Entertainment and James Patterson Entertainment announced today that they have tapped Brad Furman to direct Patterson's New York Times best-selling book series Private, a 13x60 original series for television. The companies also announced that Jane Rosenthal and Robert De Niro of Tribeca Productions will serve as Executive Producers, with the company's Berry Welsh serving as Co-Executive Producer. James Patterson, one of the world's most prolific, popular and top-selling authors, also serves as Executive Producer of Private, along with Leopoldo Gout of James Patterson Entertainment.

Private features former CIA agent Jack Morgan, who runs the world's most elite investigation firm. With maximum force and maximum discretion always guaranteed, Jack's staff of global investigators uses advanced forensic tools to make and break the cases that involve the secrets of the most influential people in the world.

Brad Furman most recently directed The Lincoln Lawyer, which Lionsgate released in 2011, starring Matthew McConaughey, Marisa Tomei and William H. Macy. Next up, Furman will release Runner, Runner, which stars Ben Affleck and Justin Timberlake through Fox in September, 2013.

Upcoming in television, Tribeca serves as Executive Producers on About A Boy from creator Jason Katims (Friday Night Lights, Parenthood) with Jon Favreau directing the pilot, set for a midseason premiere on NBC. Previously they produced NYC-22, a drama from Richard Price about rookie cops in New York City which aired on CBS.

Steve Bowen, President of James Patterson Entertainment stated, "Brad Furman is a singular talent whose star is rapidly ascending. His gritty style and gripping, compelling storytelling make him the ideal visionary to lift Private off the pages and onto the screen."

"We are thrilled to welcome Tribeca Productions to the Private team. Their impeccable taste in material and commitment to sharing great stories with audiences makes them the perfect partners for this project," added Stewart Till, CEO, Sonar Entertainment

James Patterson's 113 books have grossed over $3 billion in worldwide sales to date. He holds several Guinness World Record marks in publishing including Most Entries on the New York Times Best-Seller List. In addition, Patterson has had 90 New York Times #1's, a publishing industry all-time record and he is the only author in history to have #1 books on all six New York Times best-seller lists.

John McLaughlin, the acclaimed screenwriter of Black Swan, has written the initial two-episode pilot and will write future episodes as well. McLaughlin, Furman, Patterson and TriBeCa Productions are represented by Creative Artists Agency (CAA). Furman is also represented by Atlas Entertainment.
