HORIZON (USA/UCP; W: Bridget Tyler; D: Yves Simoneau) - Josh Braaten (Semi-Pro) is the latest addition to the drama pilot, set at the height of World War II and revolving around Lauren Howl (Ruth Bradley), a secretary at the FBI who begins a secretive investigation into files that have been stamped with the codename "horizon." He will play Joe McNeil, "a newly single father who helplessly watches as his daughter mysteriously disappears - seemingly taken by an unseen force - and the only person who believes his story at the FBI is Lauren." Cary Elwes, Mark Famiglietti, Meg Steedle and Taylor Handley also star. (Deadline.com)

ON THE FARM (FOX, New!) - Darlene Hunt and Andy Bobrow ("Save Me") are set to team for a new single-camera comedy at the network about a New York dermatologist who moves his family to a farm in rural Kentucky in order to live a simpler life. Sony Pictures Television is behind the half-hour, home to the creators respective overall deals. (Deadline.com)

THE RED ROAD (Sundance; W: Aaron Guzikowski; D: TBA) - Martin Henderson ("Off the Map") has snagged the lead role on the drama series, about Harold Jensen, a sheriff struggling to keep his family together while simultaneously policing two clashing communities: the small town where he grew up and the neighboring Ramapo Mountains, home of the Ramapo Mountain Indians. Julianne Nicholson also stars as his wife Jean with Jason Momoa as Indian ex-con Phillip Kopus. (Deadline.com)

SAINT GEORGE (FX/Lionsgate; W: David McFadzean & George Lopez & Matt Williams; D: TBA) - Danny Trejo, Jenn Lyon and Kaden Gibson have all joined the cast of the upcoming George Lopez-led comedy, about the chaotic life of a recently divorced working class Mexican-American turned successful entrepreneur. Trejo is set as George's uncle Tio, "a part-time construction worker who stops by the house to drink George's beer." Lyon then will play George's ex-wife with Gibson as his 11-year-old son. Adriana Barraza also stars as George's overbearing mother. (Deadline.com, THR.com)

TYRANT (FX/Fox 21; W: Craig Wright; D: David Yates) - Salim Daw has snagged a role on the drama pilot, about an unassuming American family - Barry, Molly and their kids - drawn into the workings of a turbulent Middle Eastern nation. He'll play Yussef, "the cunning and savvy adviser and closest confident to dictator Khalid Al-Fahed." Ashraf Barhom, Mehdi Dehbi and Moran Atias also star. (Deadline.com)

UNTITLED JOHN BROWN PROJECT (FX, New!) - The life of abolitionist John Brown - "a lowly 50-year old farmer who grew to become to a notorious anti-slavery freedom fighter in Kansas and his famed 1859 raid on Harper's Ferry" - is being eyed as a potential six-to-eight hour limited series at the cable channel. Said effort is based on Tony Horwitz's 2011 book "Midnight Rising" with Touchy Feely Films' Paul Giamatti and Daniel Carey and Kippster Entertainment's Perri Kipperman and David Stern executive producing for FX Productions. Horwitz is also expected to serve as a consultant should it move forward with Gabriel Range as a co-executive producer. (Deadline.com)

Chris Brancato and Karey Nixon Burke, Holland's partner at their Universal Television-based Dark Toy Entertainment, will also executive produce. (THR.com)
