AFTER 16 YEARS, JOY BEHAR BIDS ADIEU TO "THE VIEW," FRIDAY AUGUST 9 ON ABC

A Can't-Miss Celebration Filled with Surprise Guests, Music and Make-Out Sessions

After 16 unforgettable years on ABC's "The View," original co-host Joy Behar bids the show and current hosts Whoopi, Sherri and Barbara farewell, but not until she takes a stroll down memory lane for "This Was Your Life on 'The View' Joy Behar," Friday, August 9 on ABC (11:00 a.m.-12:00 noon, ET).

With her friends and family seated in the audience, it's a spectacular send-off that looks back at some of her most memorable and most talked about moments, everything from walking off during Bill O'Reilly's appearance, being used as a human barbell by LL Cool J, grilling Senator John McCain, her pop culture quiz with President Obama that left him 50 shades of red, a montage of make-out sessions and trading barbs with a famous drag queen. Special pre-taped goodbye messages from Hollywood celebrities are also sprinkled throughout the celebration.

The hour is filled with a bevy of Behar's pals, including the show's master of ceremonies, Mario Cantone; best friend Susie Essman, who talks of their early years on the comedy club circuit; Regis Philbin revealing who really discovered her; former moderator of "The View" Meredith Vieira getting passionate; comedic sparring with Joan Rivers; and Alan Alda recounting how they first met. Legendary singer Tony Bennett serenades Behar with a classic song, as she's spun 'round the dance floor by Alda.

But in true "View" fashion, it's Behar who gets the final word -- and the last laugh -- as she leaves the studio audience in hysterics and show creator Barbara Walters speechless.

Scheduled guests for the week of AUGUST 5-9 are as follows (subject to change):

MONDAY, AUGUST 5 -- CNN anchor Zoraida Sambolin guest co-hosts; Day of Hot Topics.

TUESDAY, AUGUST 6 -- To be announced.

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 7 -- Musical guest CeeLo Green performs with Goodie Mob; Lake Bell ("In a World...").

THURSDAY, AUGUST 8 - Television journalist Marysol Castro guest co-hosts; Emmy(R) nominee Mayim Bialik ("The Big Bang Theory"); Anson Mount ("Hell on Wheels").

FRIDAY, AUGUST 9 - After 16 Years, ABC's "The View" says goodbye to original co-host Joy Behar with a can't-miss celebration hosted by Mario Cantone and featuring guests Regis Philbin, Meredith Vieira, Joan Rivers, Susie Essman, Alan Alda and a performance from Tony Bennett.

"The View," a live, one-hour daily talk show from ABC (11:00 a.m.-12:00 noon, ET), features Daytime Emmy Award-winning hosts Barbara Walters, Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar and Sherri Shepherd. It's the original forum in which real women discuss everyday issues, share their opinions and engage in colorful conversations. "The View," broadcast in HDTV and produced in 2-channel stereo sound, is now available to watch online daily at 4:00 p.m., ET/1:00 p.m., PT on ABC.com. "The View" is produced by ABC and Ms. Walters' Barwall Productions, with Ms. Walters serving as executive producer along with Bill Geddie, who also serves as executive producer for "The Barbara Walters Specials." "The View" is directed by Mark Gentile.
