NBC'S "THE MILLION SECOND QUIZ" LAUNCHES INNOVATIVE NEW APP TODAY

Game Will Allow Players to Qualify for the Live Televised Competition in New York City

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif - Aug. 14, 2013 - "The Million Second Quiz" app, a gateway for players hoping to come to New York City to play the game live and compete for the largest prize in game show history, is available to download and play today from the App Store.

"The Million Second Quiz," hosted by Emmy winner Ryan Seacrest, will be the first fully convergent television experience where fans at home can play along answering the very same questions that contestants on the show are asked in sync with each night's broadcast. Fans can then compare how they fare against those in the show in addition to earning bonus points.

"Fans now have the opportunity to test their pop culture knowledge with the trivia game featured on NBC's new 'The Million Second Quiz' app," said Seacrest. "If you earn enough points, you'll be eligible to be a 'Line Jumper,' giving you the chance to compete on live TV in NYC this September."

The app is a head-to-head quiz game you can play in real time by inviting your friends via social media or allowing the app to match you with available players from across the country. Players who accumulate enough points will qualify for a chance to appear on the show as a "Line Jumper" once the show kicks off in primetime on September 9. Line Jumpers will be surprised with a knock on their door or even a surprise visit away from home and then flown overnight to New York to play the game live and have the chance to unseat the player who's currently in the "Money Chair." The app consists of 10-question bouts relating to pop culture, history and general knowledge.

The game is playable on the official "The Million Second Quiz" show website on NBC.com and on the show's Facebook page. "The Million Second Quiz" app is available for free from the App Store on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch or at ww.AppStore.com/TheMillionSecondQuiz. The app will be available on Android soon. Users can sign in through their Facebook, Twitter, and G+ platforms, or by using an email address. Potential contestants can also visit the show venue in New York to play along with the game and try to qualify for selection into the competition. The app can be downloaded at: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/the-million-second-quiz/id681270212?ls=1&mt=8

The show competition takes place 24 hours a day over the course of 12 days. Contestants will be pushed to the limits of their knowledge and the breaking point of endurance as they compete in quiz bouts around the clock. Live, interactive, intense and unlike any other game show in history, this is truly the chance of a lifetime.

"The Million Second Quiz" premieres Monday, Sept. 9 (8-9 p.m. ET) and continues through Saturday, Sept. 14 in that same 8 p.m. hour. It will then resume on Monday, Sept. 16 and will air each night (8-9 p.m. ET) until the finale on Thursday, Sept. 19 (8-10 p.m. ET). In between the broadcasts, the fans can watch the competition continue via a live stream on NBC.com or in the apps.

"The Million Second Quiz" is produced by All3 Media America, Studio Lambert and Universal Television. Stephen Lambert, Eli Holzman, David A. Hurwitz and Ryan Seacrest serve as executive producers.
