SHOWTIME(R) ACQUIRES BRITISH INDIE THRILLER "FLYING BLIND"
Film Stars Helen McCrory, Kenneth Cranham and Najib Oudghiri
LOS ANGELES, CA (September 12, 2013) - SHOWTIME has acquired British indie thriller FLYING BLIND starring Helen McCrory (Hugo, Skyfall), Kenneth Cranham (Hot Fuzz, Layer Cake) and Najib Oudghiri (Rendition, The Wedding Song). The film will debut on SHOWTIME on Thursday, September 26 at 9:30 PM ET/PT.
A passionate post-9/11 love story, FLYING BLIND stars Helen McCrory as Frankie, who is in her forties, ambitious, unmarried and successful. But her life changes forever when she embarks on a passionate affair with Kahil (Najib Oudghiri), a French-Algerian aerospace student twenty years younger. One day, she arrives at work and is detained by the security services: Kahil is a person of interest to MI5. Her well-ordered life starts to unravel in a welter of suspicion and prejudice, as Frankie no longer knows whether to follow her passion or listen to the doubts that increasingly overwhelm her.
FLYING BLIND is the first feature film by young Polish director Katarzyna Klimkiewicz, whose short film, Hanoi-Warsaw, won the 2010 European Film Award for Best Short. The screenplay was written by Naomi Wallace (The War Boys), Bruce McLeod (The War Boys) and Caroline Harrington. FLYING BLIND made its world premiere debut at the Edinburgh International Film Festival in 2012, where it was nominated for a Michael Powell Award for Best British Feature Film and was subsequently released in Europe in April 2013.
