FOX Asks for More Scripts of "Dads," Less Episodes of "Us & Them"

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- FOX has asked for six additional scripts of its new comedy "Dads" while its midseason effort "Us & Them" is wrapping production early.
The former development - as first reported by EW.com - comes as the Seth MacFarlane-produced half-hour enters its fifth week, currently averaging a mediocre 1.6 rating among adults 18-49. Said number is on par with "The Mindy Project" and short of fellow Tuesday entries "New Girl" (2.2) and "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" (1.8), the latter of which received a script extension last week.
Meanwhile, Deadline.com reports FOX has rolled back the 13-episode order for its Jason Ritter/Alexis Bledel-led comedy "Us & Them." Said decision is tied to "concerns about the tone of the series" and "for all intents and purposes, the show is over, and the cast has been told they can take new jobs." Production recently completed on its sixth post-pilot episode, meaning its freshman run will be capped at seven episodes.
