Nashville, Tennessee has been known as the world's Music City for over 100 years. In this week's "On the Record: This Town" acclaimed music producer Buddy Miller, songwriters Jaida Dreyer and Andrew Rollins, "Nashville's" creator/executive producer, Callie Khouri, showrunner Dee Johnson, and the song's performer's Clare Bowen (Scarlett O'Connor) and Charles Esten (Deacon Claybourne), share their thoughts on the highs and lows of working in such an iconic town and the joy of being surrounded by so much history and musical genius.

"We wanted to write something that talks about Nashville and how frustrating and rewarding Nashville can be," said Rollins.

"It's so much about what this show's about. It's about this town and how it can rocket you up or it can tear you on down. Sometimes the song is just perfect for the moment and this is just one of those times," shared Esten.

"It's an incredible town, but it can also be pretty tough to get your music heard above everything else," added Miller.

All original music is released by ABC Studios, Lionsgate and ABC Music Lounge in association with Big Machine Records.

"On the Record" is a documentary web series that follows the life of original songs performed on "Nashville" written by singer/songwriters in the music scene, from the songs' inception to on-air premiere. The series offers an intimate look into the songwriting process, from guitar demo to music video and all the steps in between.
