HGTV Showcases Dream Lifestyles with Tempting New Year's Day Lineup
Highlights include "Living Alaska," "Hawaii Life," "Vacation House for Free," "Caribbean Life," "Caribbean Life" and "Island Hunters."

HGTV SHOWCASES DREAM LIFESTYLES WITH TEMPTING NEW YEAR'S DAY LINEUP

New York - HGTV's New Year's Day programming lineup will entice any viewer who has ever dreamed of living in a fantasy winter locale, on a stunning tropical island or in an amazing beachside home. The schedule will feature fresh programming, including Rose Parade 2014, the cornerstone of the day-long event. Sizzling twins Drew Scott and Jonathan Scott, who were recently tagged among People magazine's "Sexiest Men Alive," will join Emmy(R) Award-winning entertainment journalist Nancy O'Dell on the announcers' platform for HGTV's live and commercial-free coverage of the 125th Rose Parade(R) presented by Honda. Josh Temple of DIY Network's House Crashers will be in the middle of the action offering unique street-side perspectives and spectator interviews. In addition, the day's programming will include new half-hour episodes of Island Hunters, Beachfront Bargain Hunt, Caribbean Life, Hawaii Life and Living Alaska, as well as the premiere of HGTV Dream Home 2014, which will offer viewers the first on-air look at the spectacular home in Lake Tahoe.

HGTV also will launch its largest social media campaign ever: a live all-day Twitter party with such top network talent as the Property Brothers, the Cousins, Rehab Addict's Nicole Curtis and Love It or List It duos, Hilary Farr/David Visentin and Jillain Harris/Todd Talbot. Throughout the day, fans can join the Twitter party by using #HGTVNewYear to ask their favorite network stars questions and get advice about everything from renovation and decorating to New Year's resolutions. Fans also may find that their actual tweets appear live on air.

Specials such as Hot Beach Houses, Cool Pools, 15 Amazing Homes, Amazing Water Homes and new episodes of viewer favorites Buying and Selling, House Hunters and House Hunters International will round out the day's viewing.

"The day's lineup focuses on some of the world's most beautiful places, so even if you spend the day in your PJs, you'll enjoy a trip of a lifetime," said Steven Lerner, senior vice president, programing and development, HGTV and DIY Network.

HGTV programming lineup for Wednesday, Jan. 1:

Hot Beach Houses
Premieres at 7 a.m. ET/PT
HGTV will showcase some of the world's most amazing beach houses in this new one-hour special, including a cliff-side retreat in Malibu that features multiple balconies and panoramic views of the Pacific, a tranquil St. Thomas getaway filled with hand-cast Italian marble and a half-acre Rhode Island mansion built on top of a rock. These houses offer the ultimate beach lifestyle fantasy.

Cool Pools
Airs at 8 a.m. ET/PT
From the 46,000-gallon pool near Dallas, Texas, that boasts a 135-foot lazy river, four waterfalls and a 10-person hot tub to the Las Vegas home with three pools carved into a mountainside, the Cool Pools one hour special will offer a glimpse of the country's top pools.

15 Amazing Homes
Airs at 9 a.m. ET/PT
15 Amazing Homes is a one-hour special that will include a tour of a home that rotates with the sun, a golden Egyptian pyramid located in America's heartland, a UFO-shaped home and a million-dollar estate that's buried deep inside a cave.

House Hunters
Airs at 10 a.m. ET/PT and 10:30 a.m. ET/PT
Regularly airs Monday-Friday at 10 p.m. ET/PT
Homeowners Rob and Lea have lived with Lea's parents in Boston since they were married three years ago. Now they are ready for their own home, but they don't see eye-to-eye on what to buy. Rob loves condos within the buzz of a city and the proximity to shops and restaurants, while Lea favors a calmer life in the suburbs in an older colonial home. This episode of House Hunters explores if this couple goes for the modern city condo or the suburban family home. New parents Jake and Jenny want to upgrade to a bigger home in the suburbs of Los Angeles. The couple is hoping to find an open and airy Mediterranean-style home that suits her minimalist preferences without sacrificing the coziness and privacy he wants. With a $750,000 budget, the couple will discover their options in the pricey Los Angeles housing market.

Rose Parade 2014
Airs at 11 a.m. ET/ 8 a.m. PT
HGTV celebrates the New Year with the live and commercial-free coverage of the 125th Rose Parade(R) presented by Honda. Property Brothers Drew Scott and Jonathan Scott - who were recently tagged among People magazine's "Sexiest Men Alive," will join Emmy(R) Award-winning entertainment journalist Nancy O'Dell on the announcers' platform to commentate on floats, equestrian units and marching bands highlighting year's theme "Dreams Come True." DIY Network's Josh Temple will be street side interviewing float riders, band members and celebrities on their unique parade experience.

Island Hunters
Airs at 1 p.m. ET/PT and 1:30 p.m. ET/PT
Regularly airs on Sundays at 10 p.m. ET/PT and 10:30 p.m. ET/PT
Island Hunters will feature lucky buyers who want the ultimate getaway - their own private island. In this episode, Bill and Yvette are looking to relocate their business and family to an island in the Belize Barrier Reef. They will tour three separate islands and decide which beautiful tropical island escape they will call home. Later, Patrick and Kathy want to leave Toronto behind and purchase their own fresh-water island retreat in the Georgian Bay - Canada's premiere vacation destination. On a budget of $600,000, they want a space that provides all the amenities, including privacy and a beautiful view. They will tour three different islands and ultimately decide which one fulfills their dream wish list.

Beachfront Bargain Hunt
Airs at 2 p.m. ET/PT and 2:30 p.m. ET/PT
Regularly airs on Sundays at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT
Beachfront Bargain Hunt will prove that buyers don't need millions to find a dream beach property. Connecticut-based couple Kristen and Chuck search for a second home on the beaches of Cape Cod. Typical waterfront property in this area is pricey and the couple has a budget of just $350,000. Kristen and Chuck will tour four potential properties along the Cape in hopes that they can find the perfect home to offer a seasonal beach lifestyle. High school sweethearts Tammy and John will search for a vacation home on North Carolina's expensive Outer Banks. On a budget of $300,000, the couple will tour three potential properties on the Albemarle Sound in search of a beachside property that will offer more quality time together and help to generate a rental income.

Caribbean Life
Airs at 3 p.m. ET/PT and 3:30 p.m. ET/PT

Caribbean Life will follow families as they leave the mainland behind to live on island time.
Dave and Julie moved from St. Louis, Mo. to St. Croix in 2006, but their cramped rental apartment is no longer large enough for the family of three. The couple will look for a home on the island with a large yard for their kids and close to the beach so they can continue to enjoy sailing and jet skiing. Corinne and Patrick, who met and fell in love with each other on the island of St. Croix, say they are ready to take the next step and buy a home together. The couple wants the beautiful tropical views that first drew them to the island and a bigger place that gives them room to grow.

Amazing Water Homes
Airs at 4 p.m. ET/PT and 4:30 p.m. ET/PT
HGTV will offer inspiration to take the plunge in this one-hour special. Host Rebecca Budig will showcase seven spectacular homes where water is the main attraction, including a backyard beach in Texas and a mansion surrounded by a five-acre moat in Miami.

Vacation House for Free
Premieres at 5 p.m. ET/PT
In this new series, licensed contractor and real estate expert Matt Blashaw will show families how to find, renovate and rent a vacation home fixer-upper. In each one-hour episode, homebuyers will shop for and renovate a fixer-upper and turn it into a fabulous retreat. Matt will then show them how to rent the renovated home for top dollar so the homeowners can enjoy the home whenever they want.

Hawaii Life
Airs at 6 p.m. ET/PT and 6:30 p.m. ET/PT
Regularly airs on Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT
Hawaii properties can range from $50,000 plots of land to $50 million dollar dream homes. Chris and Annette, who enjoy an active lifestyle with their three children in Atlanta, have always wanted to live near the ocean. With fantasies of snorkeling and sailing all year round, the family will search for the perfect place as they fulfill their dream to live in Hawaii. Despite the brisk weather of their Oregon hometown, Sam and Kathryn love spending time outdoors with their four kids. After many vacations to the Big Island, they've decided to leave the chilly northwest to live a lifetime on the beach. The family will search for a home that keeps them connected to nature and provides a permanent tropical home for their growing family.

Living Alaska
Airs at 7 p.m. ET/PT and 7:30 p.m. ET/PT
Premieres on Sunday, March 23, at 7 p.m. ET/PT and 7:30 p.m. ET/PT
Alaska has been called the last frontier - a place where only the most adventurous come to live, where the nearest neighbor might be miles away and the million-dollar views change around the clock. This half-hour series features homebuyers as they learn what to look for and ultimately decide whether living in Alaska is right for them.

HGTV Dream Home 2014
Premieres at 8 p.m. ET/PT
Hosts John Gidding and Josh Temple will showcase the 2014 HGTV Dream Home located near Lake Tahoe, Calif. during this one-hour special and give a first-hand look at the shopping, food and family-friendly activities in the area. One lucky winner will receive the keys to the house, a 2014 GMC Yukon Denali and a $250,000 cash prize.

Buying and Selling
Airs at 9 p.m. ET/PT and 9:30 p.m. ET/PT
Regularly airs on Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT
The Property Brothers, Drew and Jonathan Scott, help homeowners navigate a renovation challenge in each episode of Buying and Selling. In this episode, the homeowners have a cramped home is filled with toys and clutter and say they desperately need more room. In order to sell their current property for top dollar, Jonathan will give the house a much needed makeover, while Drew will lead the charge to find the family a perfect new place.

House Hunters
Regularly airs Monday-Friday at 10 p.m. ET/PT
Utah natives Devin and Chianne can't wait to buy their first house in the funky beach community of Dunedin, Fla. With his heart set on finding a log cabin and her preference for southern-style Victorian homes, the couple will face a challenge to find a new place that suits their different design styles and also stays within their $160,000 budget.

House Hunters International
Regularly airs Monday-Friday at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT
Jaclyn and Gabriel have lived and worked in New York for more than a decade. Now they're ready to move to the West Indies island of St. Kitts to follow Gabriel's dream of becoming a veterinarian.
