INVESTIGATION DISCOVERY "SPRINGS" INTO NEW YEAR WITH LONG REIGNING KING OF DAYTIME TELEVISION -- JERRY SPRINGER HOSTS NEW SERIES "TABLOID" PREMIERING JANUARY 16

(Silver Spring, MD) - Go ahead, admit it --you secretly scan the supermarket tabloids in the checkout line to quench your thirst for over-the-top stories. Make it your New Year's resolution to indulge in Investigation Discovery's new guilty pleasure series, TABLOID, premiering Thursday, January 16 at 10/9c. Guaranteed to satisfy inquiring minds, the one-hour show, hosted by the Emmy Award-winning king of tabloid television, Jerry Springer, peels back the curtain to probe the most bizarre larger-than-life stories you can't possibly imagine.

"There's no one better to guide viewers through the scandalous stories seen in TABLOID than the man who has spent decades unveiling the most outrageous tales -- Jerry Springer," said Henry Schleiff, Group President, Investigation Discovery, Destination America, and Military Channel. "Jerry is the perfect host for ID as we capture infamous headlines from across the country - from the Bling Ring to the 'headless body in the topless bar' -- this show has it all!"

"You can't make this stuff up," said Springer. "Life invariably outruns imagination when it comes to outrageousness."

No stranger to astonishing tales, Springer brings more than 20 years of experience working with outrageous characters. Baring all of the twists and turns, and macabre motivations behind eye-catching criminal accounts, TABLOID unearths the most mind-blowing headlines of your favorite checkout line magazines exposing the biggest stories of the day.

The line-up of the first four episodes of TABLOID is as follows:

THE KIDS ARE NOT ALRIGHT Premieres Thursday, January 16 at 10/9c

The teenage years are challenging for most people, but Esmie Tseng copes with pressures from her parents in a particularly bloody way; The Bling Ring, a group of fashionable young thieves take center stage in the world of LA's rich and famous.

DEVILS IN DISGUISE Premieres Thursday, January 23 at 10/9c

Mississippi teenager Charles Hardemann is found near death and it's his attacker's mask that haunts him as he lies in the hospital fighting for survival. Then in Columbus, Ohio, Gary "Brazon" McMurtry is one of the most famous female impersonators of all time and the reigning queen of Ms. Gay Ohio when a killer dressed as a ninja slays him in his home.

DRESSED FOR REVENGE Premieres Thursday, January 30 at 10/9c

They say clothes make the man, but in these two cases they do him - and her - in. Real-life Thelma and Louise, Rose Turford and Joyce Stevens create a string of costumed cons taking them places they never imagined; Amara Walters encounters a man with murder on his mind when he enters her house wearing a chilling disguise.

DIRTY LITTLE LIES Premieres Thursday, February 6 at 10/9c

Lies are at the heart of these two scandalous tragedies -- narcissistic nightclub owner Burt Pugach deceives his mistress and she ends up maimed for life; Emily Sander seems like a sweet young woman but she's actually living a dangerous double life that eventually catches up with her.

TABLOID is produced for Investigation Discovery by Radley Studios and Espiritus Productions. Brandon Hill and Chad Itskowitz are executive producers for Radley Studios, and Bill Katz is executive producer for Espiritus Productions.
