CONSTANTINE (NBC/Warner Bros.; W: Daniel Cerone & David S. Goyer; D: TBA) - The network's small screen take on the DC Comics character John Constantine - "an enigmatic and irreverent con man-turned-reluctant supernatural detective who is thrust into the role of defending us against dark forces from beyond" - has been given a pilot order. Cerone penned the teleplay from a story he conceived with Goyer. (Deadline.com)


HIEROGLYPH (FOX/20th; W: Travis Beacham; D: Miguel Sapochnik) - Condola Rashad ("Smash") has scored a role on the ancient Egypt series, about a notorious thief who is plucked from prison to serve the Pharoah, navigating palace intrigue, seductive concubines, criminal underbellies and even a few divine sorcerers. She'll play Nefertari, the Pharaoh's (Reece Ritchie) half-sister with a rare beauty that intimidates even the strongest of suitors... and she knows it." (Deadline.com)


THE MYSTERIES OF LAURA (NBC/Warner Bros.; W: Jeff Rake; D: TBA) - Jeff Rake's import of the Spanish series - about "the life and relationships of a female homicide detective who can handle murderous criminals - but not her evil twins" - has received a cast-contingent pilot order. Said effort comes from Warner Bros. Television with Kapital Entertainment's Aaron Kaplan and Berlanti Productions' Greg Berlanti executive producing alongside Rake. The latter's Melissa Kellner Berman will also serve as a co-executive producer. (Deadline.com)
