HBO Cancels "Family Tree," "Hello Ladies"; Eyes "Getting On" Renewal

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- HBO has pulled the plug on its freshman comedies "Family Tree" and "Hello Ladies" while "Getting On" is on track to return for a second season, according to simultaneous reports on Deadline.com and THR.com.
"Hello Ladies" however will wrap its run with a special, a la the fellow Stephen Merchant-produced "Life Too Short." No timetable on the special was given. As for "Getting On," talks are underway for a potential sophomore run. Again, no specifics were released.
All three series opened to very modest numbers - "Family Tree" (794,000 on May 12), "Hello Ladies" (552,000 on September 29) and "Getting On" (520,000 on November 24) - in the past year.
