"On The Road to the RDMAs" Begins Across Seven U.S. Cities February 22

The 2014 Radio Disney Music Awards (RDMA), the prime awards show for kids and families' favorite music, will take place SATURDAY, APRIL 26 at Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE, it was announced today. Rapper Becky G, an RCA/Kemosabe Records artist and Radio Disney "N.B.T." (Next Big Thing), helped make the announcement on Radio Disney's "Morgan & Maddy in the Morning." The music awards show will be presented as a one-hour TV special "Disney Channel Presents the Radio Disney Music Awards" on SUNDAY, APRIL 27 (8:00 p.m., ET/PT). Scheduled performers include Becky G, Epic Records' Fifth Harmony and Hollywood Records' R5. The headlining act plus more artists will be announced at a later date. The event will be preceded by a seven-city live-event tour for kids and families, "On The Road to the RDMAs."

Tickets for the event, which will feature the most popular young recording artists and stars as heard on Radio Disney, go on sale today, Thursday, January 23 at AXS.com.

National sponsors for the Radio Disney Music Awards and "On The Road to the RDMAs" include: Duck Tape brand duct tape, Embassy Suites Hotels, GEICO and ARM & HAMMER Tooth Tunes.

"On The Road to the RDMAs" will feature performances by top Radio Disney artists, games, activities and a chance to vote via an interactive kiosk for RDMA winners. The event series begins February 22 in Orlando with performances by Island Def Jam's pop rock band, The Vamps and Becky G, followed by stops in Chicago, Cleveland, Houston, Dallas and Seattle. The road show culminates in a free RDMA Pre-Show Festival that will take place in Nokia Plaza (at Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE) in the hours leading up to the awards show. Along with the one-hour special, exclusive and behind-the-scenes content will air across multiple platforms including Radio Disney, Disney.com and the Disney Channel WATCH app.

The fan-driven awards show will allow listeners to vote on all categories including "She's The One - Best Female Artist," "They're The One - Best Group" and "So FANTastic - Fiercest Fans," among others. The awards show will also continue the tradition of honoring kids from across the country with the "Heroes For Change" award in recognition of their efforts to make a difference in their communities.
