Darren Haynes will join ESPN beginning Monday, Feb. 24, as a studio anchor, appearing on various shows across several ESPN platforms.

Prior to joining ESPN, Haynes was sports anchor/reporter for Al Jazeera-America in New York (September-November 2013) where he anchored the evening and morning sportscasts, reported and provided exclusive interviews, and maintained a social media presence, including blogging ("Inside D's Locker").

Previously he was at WHDH (NBC) in Boston (December 2011-March 2013), where he served as sports anchor/reporter, contributed to Celtics, Patriots, Red Sox, Bruins and NCAA coverage, hosted a Patriots pre-game show, and anchored "Olympic Zone" during the London Olympics.

"Darren's energy and expertise are certain to click and connect with sports fans everywhere," said Rob King, Sr. Vice President, SportsCenter and News. "We're very much looking forward to his arrival."

Haynes spent seven years in Texas where he was sports anchor and reporter at KABB (FOX) in San Antonio (April 2010-November 2011), and KGBT (CBS) in Harlingen (December 2007-April 2010). His career began in Michigan as a sports anchor and reporter at WBKB (CBS) in Alpena, WLAJ (ABC) in Lansing, and Fox Sports Net and Comcast Local in Detroit.

Haynes, who was nominated for two local Sports Emmy Awards in 2011, is a graduate of Wayne State University where he was a two-year starter at running back and kick-off return specialist, and attended the University of New Haven (Connecticut). A Woodbridge, Conn. native, Haynes was an All-State football player at Amity Regional High School.
