ASTRONAUT WIVES CLUB, THE (ABC/ABC Studios; W: Stephanie Savage; D: Nick Cassavetes) - Dominique McElligott ("Hell on Wheels") is the latest to be cast in the upcoming drama, which tells the true story of the women behind NASA's early astronauts and the struggles they face when their lives and families are catapulted into the spotlight overnight." She'll play Louise Shepard, "a real life 'Sabrina' whose father was the head of maintenance at the Duponts' Longwood Gardens estate. She struggles to uphold her 'perfect' image and her complicated marriage once her husband Alan becomes the first American in space. Louise and Alan had one of the few marriages that survived the space program, staying together for 53 years." Azure Parsons, Desmond Harrington, Erin Cummings, JoAnna Garcia Swisher, Odette Annable and Zoe Boyle also star. (Deadline.com)
SCALPED (WGN America, New!) - Jason Aaron and by R.M. Guéra's Vertigo Comics title is being developed as a drama at the cable channel. Doug Jung ("Banshee") is on board to pen the hour, which focuses on "the Oglala Lakota inhabitants in the fictional Prairie Rose Indian Reservation in South Dakota as they grapple with organized crime, poverty, drug and alcohol addiction and local politics while trying to preserve their cultural identity." Said effort is presumably set up at the Warner Bros. Television-based DC Entertainment. (THR.com)
AND IN OTHER NEWS... - Aasif Mandvi, co-star of HBO's upcoming comedy "The Brink," will also serve as a writer/co-producer on the series (Deadline.com); and Langley Kirkwood, Meaghan Rath, Chaske Spencer and Tom Pelphrey are among the new faces bound for "Banshee" next season (TVLine.com).
