JUNE 3, 2014 -- NBC News will honor the 70th anniversary of D-Day with special coverage across all platforms beginning Thursday, June 5, through Sunday, June 8. As veterans and world leaders gather in Normandy, France to commemorate the historic day, "NBC Nightly News" anchor and managing editor Brian Williams will lead the network's on-the-ground reporting, along with NBC News special correspondent Tom Brokaw and NBC News chief foreign affairs correspondent Andrea Mitchell, as well as NBC News political director and chief White House correspondent Chuck Todd and NBC News national correspondent Peter Alexander, who will be traveling with President Obama.

On Thursday and Friday, Williams will anchor special editions of "NBC Nightly News" from the site of the American cemetery overlooking Omaha Beach.

"TODAY" will feature contributions from the team in Normandy, including Tom Brokaw's profiles of members of the greatest generation who fought in the armed services. On Friday, "TODAY" will highlight key moments from the memorial ceremonies, including remarks by President Obama.

On Friday at 8pm/7 Central, NBC News will present a primetime special, "Brian Williams Reporting: Journey to Normandy." Williams tells the stories of four World War II veterans as they make their emotional return to the place that changed their lives -- and the world. Throughout the hour, viewers will learn about each man's incredible experience on D-Day and follow their journeys back to Normandy, where they will face the haunting memories of the war, honor the friends they lost, and try to find answers to decades-old questions.

NBCNews.com will devote extended coverage to the anniversary, including original reporting, videos, photography, and other multimedia features.
