ESQUIRE NETWORK GREENLIGHTS "CAR MATCHMAKER," HOSTED BY SPIKE FERESTEN AND EXECUTIVE PRODUCED BY ELLEN RAKIETEN
- New Original 13-Part Series Set to Premiere Fall 2014 -
LOS ANGELES - June 11, 2014 - Esquire Network announced today that it has greenlit production on new original series, CAR MATCHMAKER. The 13 episode series is hosted by comedian Spike Feresten and executive produced by Ellen Rakieten of Ellen Rakieten Entertainment, a division of Relativity Television. CAR MATCHMAKER is slated to premiere Fall 2014 on Esquire Network.
In each half hour episode of CAR MATCHMAKER, Feresten finds a guy in need of a car, gets to know him, and then draws upon his two decades of expertise and instinct to find three different cars perfectly suited to the buyer. At the end of each episode, a car is chosen. Whether it's someone looking to reconnect with a car from their past, a guy lusting after the muscle car of his dreams, or the father of triplets searching for a manly "dadmobile," Spike doesn't pick the expected car - but he always picks the perfect one.
"Spike has been his friends' go-to car buying guy for years, and his passion for and knowledge about cars is truly remarkable," said Matt Hanna, Head of Original Programming, Esquire Network. "There's definitely a lot of fun to be had with the format and the material in this new series, and we couldn't be more excited to be working with Spike, Ellen and her outstanding production team at Rakieten Entertainment."
Feresten is best known as a writer for television programs such as "Seinfeld," "Late Show with David Letterman" and "Saturday Night Live." During his time on "Seinfeld," he earned three Emmy nominations, including one for his well-known "Soup Nazi" episode. In addition to "Seinfeld" and "Letterman," Feresten also hosted his own Late Night series on FOX, "Talkshow with Spike Feresten" in which he executive produced and co-wrote for the series. Feresten has also written and developed other television comedy, penning episodes of "The Simpsons," "Space Ghost Coast to Coast" and "The Jamie Kennedy Experiment."
