ASCENSION (Syfy/Lionsgate/UCP; W: Philip Levens; D: TBA) - Gil Bellows is the latest face bound for the event series, about a covert space mission sending hundreds of men, women and children on a century-long voyage aboard the starship Ascension to populate a new world, assuring the survival of the human race. Nearly 50 years into the journey, as they approach the point of no return, the mysterious murder of a young woman causes the ship's population to question the true nature of their mission. He's set as the son of Abraham Enzmann, "the founder of the Ascension mission who is determined to continue his father's work." Brian Van Holt, Tricia Helfer, Brandon P. Bell, Tiffany Lonsdale, Jacqueline Byers, Andrea Roth and P.J. Boudousque also star. (TVLine.com)

AND IN OTHER NEWS... - Robbie Amell is set to recur on "The Flash" as Ronnie Raymond - a.k.a. one half of the nuclear powered super hero, Firestorm, "a maintenance worker at S.T.A.R. Labs and Dr. Caitlin Snow's fiancé who plays an integral part in the particle accelerator accident that transforms Barry Allen into The Flash" (Deadline.com); Universal Cable Productions and Vertigo Entertainment are developing Ian Rogers's short story "The House on Ashley Avenue" as a TV series (Deadline.com); Gina Gershon will guest on "Elementary" as "a socialite whom Joan (Lucy Liu) suspects of running a notorious drug cartel" (TVGuide.com); and Giancarlo Esposito will return to "Once Upon a Time" as Sidney Glass, otherwise known as the Magic Mirror, in the show's season premiere (TVGuide.com).
