DISCOVERY'S #1 RATED SHOW "GOLD RUSH" GETS PARKER SCHNABEL'S TAKE ON LAST YEAR AND WHAT'S TO COME FOR SEASON 5

A Special Line-up of 'GOLD RUSH,' Including a Sneak Peek at Season 5, Airing Tuesday, August 19, beginning at 8 PM ET/PT on the Discovery Channel

(Los Angeles, Calif.) - Who's in and who's out? Last season, GOLD RUSH fans watched as Todd Hoffman stuck his neck out and rolled the dice - braving the jungles of Guyana, South America, in a bold attempt to make a fortune along with his father Jack, Dave Turin, Jim Thurber and a few new additions to his crew. But things didn't go quite as planned. Todd hit rock bottom, lost his land, most of his money, his crew and perhaps worst of all -- his dignity. This season the big questions are: will he be able to turn things around? Or will he end up throwing in the towel for good?

While things were tough for Todd, then 18-year-old Parker Schnabel proved his worth in gold - raking in over 1,000 ounces of gold, worth 1.4 million dollars. In season 5, Parker hopes to take it up a notch with a goal of 2,000 ounces - double his previous total. Will he reach his ambitious goal? Or is he simply caught up in extreme gold fever?

Tune in on Tuesday, August 19, beginning at 8 PM ET/PT for an inside look at Discovery's #1 series GOLD RUSH. Kicking off at 8 PM ET/PT is "Parker's Take," a 2-hour special, where Parker will look back at the end of season 4 where he raked in an epic 1,000 ounces of gold. Parker will dish out stories about what went on while filming these episodes and will also answer burning questions from fans.

Then at 10 PM, in "Heroes and Zeroes," fans will see the top moments from last year, as well as an exclusive sneak peek look ahead at season 5 of GOLD RUSH premiering in October.

Big changes are coming for the crews - with the stakes and pressure to succeed higher than ever before. Will Todd Hoffman be able to resurrect his career and rise from the ashes? Was Parker's success simply beginners luck?

And what about mine boss Tony Beets? In the upcoming season, Tony buys a 75-year-old floating gold dredge which he intends to rebuild. It's a wreck, and a huge risk. Will the investment pay out, or will he be left standing in the dust?

Season 5 of GOLD RUSH will bring new crews, new machines and bold challenges. Tune in on August 19 for this special inside look at last year and the incredible twists to come.

GOLD RUSH is produced for Discovery Channel by Raw Television, where Dimitri Doganis and James Bates are executive producers and Marc Heffernan is series producer. For Discovery Channel, Christo Doyle is executive producer and Meagan Davis is producer.
