LOS ANGELES, December 10, 2014 - Golden Globe nominated actress Kirsten Dunst (Interview with the Vampire) and Breaking Bad's Jesse Plemons have signed on to star in the second installment of MGM Television and FX Production's Emmy and Award winning miniseries franchise Fargo, it was announced today by Eric Schrier, President, Original Programming, FX Networks and FX Productions and Steve Stark President, Television Production & Development of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios. Production will begin in Calgary in January 2015 and the 10-episode anthology miniseries is slated to premiere next fall on FX.

Emmy Award winning Executive Producers Noah Hawley (showrunner/writer), Joel & Ethan Coen, Warren Littlefield and John Cameron all return for the second installment. Fargo is produced by MGM Television and FX Productions. MGM Television serves as worldwide distributor of the series.

Dunst will play "Peggy Blomquist," a small town beautician with big city dreams who is trying to figure out who she really is and what she really wants as she struggles with traditional societal expectations. She shares her home with her husband "Ed" (Plemons), a butcher's assistant, who wants to be supportive of his wife's self-discovery, even if he doesn't quite understand it.

Dunst earned a Golden Globe nomination for her performance in the 1994 feature film Interview with the Vampire and won the Best Actress Award at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival for her role in Melancholia.

Her other numerous feature film credits include Bring It On, The Virgin Suicides, the Spider-Man franchise and, most recently, Two Faces of January. Dunst can next be seen in Warner Bros' Midnight Special (directed by Jeff Nichols). She is repped by United Talent Agency and Management 360.

He recently finished filming Scott Cooper's Black Mass and Stephen Frears' Untitled Cycling Film. Currently, Plemons can be seen in the Tommy Lee Jones-directed film, The Homesman. He is repped by TalentWorks and David Matlof.

Fargo's new chapter, which will unfold over the course of 10 episodes, will travel back to 1979 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Luverne, Minnesota, where a young State Police Officer "Lou Solverson" (yet to be cast), recently back from Vietnam, will tackle an all new "true crime" case. Solverson's wife, "Betsy," (yet to be cast) their four-year-old daughter, "Molly," (yet to be cast) and fellow officer, "Ben Schmidt," (yet to be cast) will also be featured in the new installment.

An adaptation of the classic Academy Award(R) winning feature film of the same title by Joel & Ethan Coen, FX's first installment of Fargo, which garnered universal critical acclaim, received an astounding 18 Emmy nominations - the second highest total of any program on television this year - and won three awards, including Outstanding Miniseries; Outstanding Directing for a Miniseries, Movie or Dramatic Special (Colin Bucksey); and Outstanding Casting for a Miniseries, Movie or Special (Rachel Tenner).
