(Albuquerque, NM) Thursday, May 7, 2015 - REELZ today announced that the men and women who have given their lives in defense of freedom in the world will be honored at The American Veterans Center's 2015 National Memorial Day Parade airing live on Monday, May 25 starting at 2pm ET/ 11am PT. The Grand Marshals of this year's Parade are the veterans of World War II with 2015 marking the 70th anniversary of the end of the war. Dozens of surviving veterans will represent the 16 million who served and more than 400,000 who made the ultimate sacrifice in winning the war. Viewers will have an additional opportunity to watch the 2015 National Memorial Day Parade on REELZ at 11:30pm ET/ 8:30pm PT on Monday, May 25.

"The National Memorial Day Parade provides a unique opportunity to salute America's military - past, present and future," said James C. Roberts, President of the American Veterans Center. "Here on Constitution Avenue in the heart of our nation's capital, we express our thanks to the veterans who have served, to the active duty personnel serving now and the youth auxiliaries who will serve in the future. Most importantly, we observe the true meaning of Memorial Day by honoring all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the defense of our liberties."

"We're tremendously honored to have the National Memorial Day Parade airing live for our viewers," said Stan E. Hubbard, CEO of REELZ. "We offer our deepest gratitude for the sacrifices made by our service men and women and their families."

In addition to marking the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II, this year's Parade also marks the 150th anniversary of the end of the Civil War and the Grand Review of the Armies - a huge parade in which Union armies marched through Washington prior to most of the soldiers being discharged.

The National Memorial Day Parade is the largest Memorial Day event in the nation and this year features Oscar(R)-nominated actor and humanitarian Gary Sinise serving as a celebrity guest with Miss America 2015 Kira Kazantsev, actor Joe Mantegna, celebrity chef and veteran Robert Irvine and American Idol alum Caleb Johnson. Grammy-winning band The Smashing Pumpkins will perform as musical guests.

Monday, May 25, 2015 also marks the 10th anniversary of the National Memorial Day Parade since its launch in 2005 by the American Veterans Center in Washington, D.C. In each subsequent year the Parade has grown in both size and scope. Since 2008 the Parade has been televised and broadcast live to American service men and women stationed around the globe.

This year's National Memorial Day Parade will commence at the corner of Constitution Avenue and 7th Street, NW. It will proceed west down Constitution, past the White House, ending at 17th Street. Participants will pass by the nation's monuments, museums and hundreds of thousands of spectators waving their flags and cheering for our country's heroes - the men and women who wear the uniforms of our armed forces.

From the American Revolution to present day conflicts, the Parade will commemorate the American spirit and the sacrifices of those soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines and Coast Guardsmen who serve. The Parade will include floats, high school marching bands, veterans, service members, local and national celebrities, service organizations and clubs and much more.

Broadcasting the National Memorial Day Parade continues REELZ's tradition of supporting America's military through programming partnerships. Since 2008 the network has provided its original programming to the American Forces Network which serves nearly one million American service men and women, Department of Defense civilians and their families overseas, stationed at bases in 175 countries as well as U.S. Navy ships at sea.
