Casting News: Wally West Races Onto "The Flash"!

Life in Central City can be pretty fast paced, but something tells us that won't be a problem for its newest resident...

The World's Fastest Man... may be in for some competition.

Warner Bros. and The CW have announced that actor Keiynan Lonsdale will be joining The Flash this winter in the role of Wally West, an iconic character from the Flash Universe who became the speedster known as Kid Flash. While news of Wally's arrival on the show will undoubtedly please fans, it's not altogether surprising. When both Iris and Joe West were announced for season one, it seemed pretty likely that eventually Wally would join the fold should the show prove successful.

Lonsdale is an emerging actor who was most recently seen in Insurgent, the second chapter of the blockbuster Divergent franchise. Flash Executive Producer Andrew Kreisberg said of the casting, "Just like when we met Grant for the first time, we instantly knew Keiynan embodied all the heart and courage of a hero. We are so excited to be bringing this much-beloved character onto the show."

When and if Wally will become Kid Flash on The CW's hit series (or ever step into the role of the Scarlet Speedster himself) remains to be seen. However, Lonsdale has been cast as a series regular, so we're sure to be seeing a lot of him.

This is just the latest #DCTV casting announcement this week, which also saw the casting of Hawkman and Vandal Savage on DC's Legends of Tomorrow and Lucy Lane on Supergirl. Expect more news to come as all of fall's new and returning series map out their seasons and delve further into production.
