HOUSESITTERS (ABC, New!) - Grammy-winner Michael Bolton is attached to star in a new multi-camera comedy at the Alphabet billed as "a sort of modern-day 'Three's Company' meets 'Two Broke Girls.'" Ricky Blitt is penning the half-hour with Todd Graner, Tom Mullen and Tim Mullen as well as The Jackal Group's Gail Berman executive producing for ABC Studios. (Deadline.com)
URBAN COWBOY (FOX/20th/Paramount; W/D: Craig Brewer) - Alfonso Herrera ("Sense8") has been tapped for the male lead in FOX's modern reimagining of the 1980 movie, about star-crossed young lovers Kyle (Herrera) and Gaby as they pursue their dreams and passions through the sweat of line dancing in honky tonks, the grime of the oil refineries and the glamour of modern Texas. It's about family legacies, starting over, finding true love and the American dream. His character is further billed as "an extremely popular rodeo circuit rider who is a puppet for the drug cartel, forced to flee Mexico after ticking off the wrong people." (Deadline.com)
AND IN OTHER NEWS... - HBO is in "very preliminary conversations" for a "Deadwood" movie (Deadline.com); Laurie Holden has opted to bow out of NBC's upcoming drama "Chicago Med," following her debut in the show's backdoor pilot (Deadline.com); Leo Fitzpatrick will recur on "Gotham" as Joe Pike, "the leader of a notorious gang of arsonists known as the Pike Brothers" (Deadline.com); despite public statements from former star Lucy Lawless, NBC is "in the early stages of developing a new take" on "Xena: Warrior Princess" (THR.com);
Travis Van Winkle will guest on "Scorpion" as Ensign Nathan Hall, "who gets trapped with Walter, Happy and Cabe in a downed submarine and must figure out how to escape before they run out of air" (EW.com); Melissa Tang will drop by "The Big Bang Theory" as "the woman Leonard kissed while on that North Sea expedition" (TVLine.com); Brit Morgan has been cast as DC Comics villain Livewire on "Supergirl" (Variety.com); and Cartoon Network has commissioned a second season of the recently launched "We Bare Bears" (Variety.com).
