truTV's "Impractical Jokers" to Keep the Laughs Coming with Season 5 Renewal Order

Announcement Comes on the Heels of Hugely Successful Live Punishment Special, The Show's Biggest Episode Ever

truTV has renewed the show Impractical Jokers for a fifth season, ordering an all new round of outrageous dares and punishments that are guaranteed to keep Sal, Joe, Murr and Q looking over their shoulders for what is next.

The 26 episode order comes in the wake of the series' biggest episode ever, a live highwire walk at South Street Seaport to celebrate their 100th episode. The special episode, which aired live on Sept. 3, drew 3.7 million total viewers in Live +3 delivery, making it truTV's most watched telecast in 19 months. In addition to Top 5 rankings in its timeslot across all the key demos, the show was a huge success on social media, trending nationwide.

"Even after 100 episodes and the success of the Live Punishment Special, it's clear that Joe, Sal, Murr, and Q have many more surprises up their sleeves," said Chris Linn, president and head of programming for truTV. "We are thrilled to move forward with another season of hilarious challenges and unexpected punishments."

Ever since they were in high school together, the four friends at the center of Impractical Jokers have challenged one another to do ridiculous things in public. Now all grown up, they are capturing their extreme dares on hidden camera, complete with unsuspecting strangers' amused, confused, or flabbergasted reactions.

After completing each dare, the guys are given a thumbs-up or a thumbs-down to determine who succeeded under pressure and who collapsed in defeat. Then at the end of each episode, the one with the most fails must face a mortifying punishment with truly humiliating consequences.

In addition to their extensive touring dates as the comedy troupe The Tenderloins, the guys will be embarking on a previously announced cruise with their fans in January 2016. The cruise departs from Miami on January 11 and stops in Cozumel, Mexico. For more information, please visit www.impracticaljokerscruise.com/.

New episodes of Impractical Jokers air Thursday nights at 10 p.m. (ET/PT) on truTV, with availability on truTV On Demand, truTV.com and the Watch truTV app the following day. Impractical Jokers is produced for truTV by NorthSouth Productions (Say Yes to the Dress: Atlanta, Double Divas), with Charlie DeBevoise, Mark Hickman, Pete McPartland Jr., Joe Gatto, James Murray, Brian Quinn and Sal Vulcano serving as executive producers.
