HGTV and Food Network Simulcast "All-Star Gingerbread Build" Nov. 28

Sears sponsors one-hour Thanksgiving weekend special

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. [For immediate release - November 5, 2015] What better way to get into the holiday spirit than watching HGTV and Food Network stars create amazing life-sized gingerbread houses? Premiering Saturday, November 28 at 8 p.m. ET, the special one-hour competition "All-Star Gingerbread Build" presented by Sears will be simulcast on HGTV and Food Network.

Hosted by Egypt Sherrod of HGTV's Flipping Virgins, network stars join forces to create life-sized, edible gingerbread houses that will amaze and inspire! Ron Ben-Israel of Food Network's Cake Wars and HGTV Property Brother Jonathan Scott go head-to-head against Duff Goldman of Food Network's Holiday Baking Championship and HGTV Property Brother Drew Scott in an epic holiday throw down to see who can create the most festive and breathtaking gingerbread dwelling in just 72 hours.

"The Property Brothers bring their vast knowledge of home construction and décor while Duff and Ron lend their extraordinary baking skills to this fun-filled holiday special that will surprise our viewers," said Kathleen Finch, chief programming, content and brand officer for Scripps Networks Interactive, parent company of HGTV and Food Network. "The sheer talent displayed in the show is truly remarkable, and of course, there's no shortage of laughs. I'm betting there are a few food fights along the way, too."

Using 20,000 gingerbread bricks, a myriad of assorted candies and a workshop full of Craftsman(R) tools and Kenmore Pro(R) appliances, the teams construct the sweet, awe-inspiring houses on a set inside a shopping mall in Los Angeles. Mall patrons are then invited to view the homes and cast a vote to determine the most show-stopping abode.

On behalf of the winning team and in keeping with the giving tradition of the season, a $10,000 Sears gift card will be donated to Rebuilding Together, part of Sears Heroes at Home program. The program funds critical home modifications and repairs for low-income and disabled veterans and their families.

"The 'All-Star Gingerbread Build' is a great example of how we're delivering for a major retailer that wants to reach the most desirable consumers around Thanksgiving," said John Dailey, senior vice president of corporate ad sales for Scripps Networks Interactive. "This special showcases the power of our combined networks and talent. The sponsorship with Sears demonstrates in a fun way how they are house experts for homeowners - even gingerbread houses."

Viewers can catch encores of the special on Cooking Channel Nov. 30 at 8 p.m. ET and on Great American Country Dec. 6 at 2 p.m. ET.
