FOX ORDERS NEW COMEDY SERIES "SON OF ZORN," A LIVE-ACTION/ANIMATION HYBRID, TO DEBUT DURING THE 2016-2017 SEASON ON FOX

Phil Lord and Chris Miller (THE LAST MAN ON EARTH, "The Lego Movie") to Executive-Produce and Jason Sudeikis to Voice Character of "Zorn"

FOX has ordered SON OF ZORN, a new live-action/animated hybrid comedy from executive producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller (THE LAST MAN ON EARTH, "The Lego Movie"), it was announced today by David Madden, President, Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company (FOX).

Upon arriving home on Earth for the first time in 10 years, ZORN (the voice of Jason Sudeikis, THE LAST MAN ON EARTH, "Saturday Night Live"), a fully animated, legendary warrior, finds that reconnecting with his live-action son, ALAN (Johnny Pemberton, "21 Jump Street"), and ex-wife, EDIE (Cheryl Hines, "Curb Your Enthusiasm"), while suffering through a mundane office job and the banality of suburban life, is harder than waging actual war in his distant, mystical homeland of Zephyria. Tim Meadows ("Saturday Night Live") also stars. The series is scheduled to debut during the 2016-2017 season.

"This is utterly unique - there has literally never been a show like this. And, of course, it is very, very funny," said Madden. "The fantastically talented duo of Phil Lord and Chris Miller are yet again delivering precedent-setting television. Jason Sudeikis makes his animated character sound and feel live-action, and Cheryl, Johnny and Tim have incredible chemistry with him that crosses formats, genres and galaxies."

SON OF ZORN is produced by 20th Century Fox Television. Reed Agnew and Eli Jorne ("Wilfred") wrote the pilot. Phil Lord, Chris Miller and Seth Cohen (THE LAST MAN ON EARTH) will executive-produce, alongside Agnew and Jorne, who will serve as showrunners. Eric Appel (BROOKLYN NINE-NINE) is director and co-executive producer.
