JOIN ME (FX, New!) - Franklin Hardy and Shane Kosakowski ("You're the Worst") have sold a new comedy to the cable channel based on the book of the same name by Danny Wallace. Said effort will presumably revolve around the true story of a man who started a cult by accident. Stephen Falk also executive produces for FX Productions. (Variety.com)

LIVE & LEARN (FOX, New!) - Crystal Jenkins ("Mike & Molly") has booked a single-camera comedy at the network which "tracks modern-day college life at a historically black college through the eyes of Sydney Mitchell, a suburban freshman who impulsively enrolls in Owen College, a fictional black college in Atlanta, where her long-lost father teaches." Tim Story (Ride Along) is attached to direct and executive produce the project alongside Will Packer and his Universal Television-based Will Packer Productions. Jenkins and Korin D. Huggins then will serve as co-executive producers. (Deadline.com)

UNTITLED BENNETT & FALK PROJECT (FX, New!) - "You're the Worst" creator Stephen Falk and fellow writer Alison Bennett are set to team for a new comedy at the cable channel about Ali, "an unrelentingly dissatisfied TV writer who returns to her hometown in rural Pennsylvania to live the simple life." They'll both presumably executive produce for FX Productions. (Deadline.com)

VOICE OF THE CITY (NBC, New!) - Claudia Shear (Dirty Blonde) has sold a New York City-set period musical drama billed as "a sweeping story that captures the rise of New York told from the point of view of a romantic showman, Patrick, and his love, Lucy, as they struggle to create a life in a new land in the only business they know." Universal Television is behind the hour with Bruce Cohen and songwriters Benj Pasek and Justin Paul also among the executive producers. (Deadline.com)

AND IN OTHER NEWS... - Shailene Woodley will reportedly join Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon in HBO's "Big Little Lies" as Jane, "a single mom whose troubled son is accused of bullying" (Deadline.com); NBC has quietly renewed "The Blacklist" for a fourth season (Deadline.com); Sylvester Stallone has opted not to participate in FOX's proposed "Rambo: New Blood" TV series (Deadline.com); Philippe Maigret has inked an overall deal with Assembly Entertainment (Deadline.com); Anika Noni Rose will recur on "Power" as "a streetwise cop from the neighborhood where Ghost and Tommy grew up" (Deadline.com); Sam Richardson will drop by "New Girl" as "a not-particularly-bright, very clumsy police officer who gets paired up with Winston" (TVLine.com); and Katey Sagal has been cast as "the MIA mother of Andy Samberg's Jake" on "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" (TVLine.com).
