NEW YORK - December 10, 2015 -Bravo Media's Emmy Award-winning "Inside the Actors Studio," hosted by James Lipton, presents a hilarious and heartwarming episode with Academy Award-nominated actor Steve Carell on Thursday, December 17 at 8pm ET/PT. Lipton welcomes the multi-faceted talent in celebration of his performance in the true-life drama, "The Big Short," where Carell plays Mark Baum, a money manager who shorted subprime mortgages during the housing and credit bubbles in 2008. With awards season underway, "The Big Short" has just been nominated for two Screen Actors Guild Awards and four Golden Globe Awards (R), including a nomination for Carell in the Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy category for his portrayal of Mark Baum. This marks his eighth Golden Globe Award nomination and the first in this category. The film hits theaters in New York and Los Angeles on Friday, December 11th and nationwide on December 23rd.

"It's no longer a question of what can Steve Carell do," said James Lipton. "It's a question of what can't he do. And the answer is, apparently, nothing - as he demonstrated on our 'Inside the Actors Studio' stage, bringing our audience to laughter, tears and cheers."

On the Actors Studio stage, Carell reflects on his early days in the business, both as a student and teacher of The Second City, followed by his successful segue from the small screen to the silver screen. Carell also discusses his celebrated work in renowned films, such as "The 40-Year-Old Virgin," "Little Miss Sunshine," "Crazy Stupid Love," and his impeccable performance as John DuPont in "Foxcatcher," which garnered him Oscar, Screen Actors Guild and Golden Globe nominations this past year. Additionally, Carell look back at his unforgettable portrayal of Michael Scott in the comedy series, "The Office," which earned him a 2006 Golden Globe Award and multiple Emmy nominations. Specifically, Carell opens up to Lipton about his affinity for portraying "losers," a recurring theme throughout his career, as well as his overall appreciation for the opportunity to work in the rising entertainment industry.
