STARZ OFFERS FREE SAMPLING OF BOOK ONE OF HIT SERIES "OUTLANDER" ON TV AND ONLINE

First Installment of "Outlander" Available Now on Select U.S. Cable, Satellite and Telco Affiliates in Addition to Starz.com, STARZ PLAY and More

Today Starz announced an "ObsessableSM" opportunity for fans to experience the entire first book of its hit series "Outlander" with free sampling available now with multiple television and online platforms nationwide, leading up to the series' second installment premiere on Saturday, April 9th at 9 pm ET/PT on STARZ. This sampling opportunity exemplifies Starz's commitment to delivering fan-centric experiences that encourage viewers to obsess over the shows they love.

"Outlander" is adapted from Diana Gabaldon's international best-selling books and executive produced by Ronald D. Moore ("Battlestar Galactica," "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine," "Star Trek: The Next Generation").

Free sampling of "Outlander's" 16-episode first installment is available through April 10th via linear, on-demand and/or online on select U.S. cable, satellite and telco affiliates as well as Starz.com, STARZ ON DEMAND and the free STARZ PLAY app for all users in the United States.

The "Outlander" sneak peek gives millions of fans the chance to watch - or for many fans, to re-watch - Book One of the Golden Globe(R)-nominated series which introduced Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) to television audiences during its worldwide series premiere in fall 2014. Claire, a married combat nurse from 1945, is mysteriously swept back in time to 1743 where she is immediately thrown into an unknown world where her life is threatened. She is forced to marry Jamie, a chivalrous and romantic young Scottish warrior, but Claire's heart is torn between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives.

Starz announced earlier this week a new look and brand positioning, "STARZ: Obsessable," which reflects the authentic, bold and award-winning original programing from Oscar(R)- and Emmy(R)-winning directors, writers and actors that ignites the white-hot passions of diverse "fandoms." On-air and online, "STARZ: Obsessable" is brought to life with a new elegant logo and graphic identity for the network, designed with the viewer in mind.

The sampling gives audiences a chance to catch up on the series before the eagerly-awaited 13-episode second installment premieres on Saturday, April 9th at 9 pm ET/PT with Claire and Jamie arriving in France, hell-bent on infiltrating the Jacobite rebellion led by Prince Charles Stuart, and stopping the battle of Culloden. With the help of his cousin Jared, a local wine merchant, Jamie and Claire are thrown into the lavish world of French society, where intrigue and parties are abundant, but political gain proves far less fruitful. Altering the course of history presents challenges that begin to weigh on the very fabric of their relationship. However, armed with the knowledge of what lies ahead, Claire and Jamie must race to prevent a doomed Highland uprising and the extinction of Scottish life as they know it.

The second installment of "Outlander" is based upon the second of eight books in Gabaldon's international best-selling Outlander series, entitled Dragonfly in Amber.

Ronald D. Moore, Jim Kohlberg, Andy Harries, Maril Davis, Ira Steven Behr, Toni Graphia and Anne Kenney serve as executive producers, which is produced by Tall Ship Productions, Story Mining & Supply Company and Left Bank Pictures in association with Sony Pictures Television.
