ANIMAL PLANET LOOKS AT THE AFTERMATH OF CHERNOBYL DISASTER 30 YEARS LATER WITH THE SPECIAL, "LIFE AFTER: CHERNOBYL," AIRING ON THE APRIL 26TH ANNIVERSARY
Thirty years after the worst nuclear catastrophe in history, which sent a plume of highly radioactive fallout into the atmosphere, biologist Rob Nelson and anthropologist Mary-Ann Ochota are the first scientists granted unlimited access to all areas surrounding the infamous Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. Knowingly putting themselves at risk to radiation exposure, the duo investigates how the environment and wildlife have been affected after decades in the most contaminated place on earth. What they discover about the effects of high radiation doses on animal and plant life is extraordinary.
The special marks the debut of ANIMAL PLANET PRESENTS, an all-new programming event featuring the best of blue-chip documentary and documentary film content. Audiences will enjoy premiere programming from top filmmakers embodying the very best of Animal Planet; exploring a wide range of topics which provide a unique lens on the world we share with our animal counterparts
