OVATION TV TO DEBUT THE HIGHLY-ANTICIPATED ANGLO-FRENCH DRAMA SERIES "VERSAILLES" OCTOBER 1
Ovation Releases the First Series Trailer Via a Dedicated Series Website, Which Will Host Extensive Behind-the-Scenes Content, Interviews, Photos, Enter-to-Win Contests and More
Santa Monica, CA - June 2, 2016 After causing a sensation in France and the UK for its addictive and sexy storylines and lavish production values, Versailles, an epic drama series following the rise of King Louis XIV and the Chateau de Versailles as the center of power in 17th century France, will have its U.S. debut on Ovation TV on Saturday, October 1. For the first time today, Ovation is debuting a sneak peek of the series on its dedicated Versailles website: www.ovationtv.com/Versailles.
The landmark Anglo-French drama takes the period genre to new dimensions, injecting a vibrant modernity into an era that put France at the epicenter of glamour, culture and fashion. The series was brought to life by a critically acclaimed creative team, which includes Executive Producers Simon Mirren (Without a Trace, Criminal Minds), David Wolstencroft (Spooks, The Escape Artist), Claude Chelli (Braquo), Anne Thomopoulos (Rome, The Tudors) and Director Jalil Lespert (Yves Saint Laurent). At US$32M, Versailles is the most-expensive drama series ever produced in Europe.
Set against a backdrop of power, love, betrayal and war, Versailles is a unique take on a defining period of French history. The year is 1667 and King Louis XIV, portrayed by George Blagden (Vikings), is a 28-year-old monarch on the cusp of greatness. A ruthless leader, he will stop at nothing to achieve his vision of creating the most beautiful palace in Europe and seizing absolute control of France and his enemies. Ovation has created a website for the series that includes behind-the-scenes footage from on location at the Chateau de Versailles and the impressive soundstage on the outskirts of Paris, where the inner sanctums of King Louis XIV's pastoral palace have been meticulously recreated. In addition, the website will include photos, cast bios, historical information, enter-to-win contests and more.
A Canal+ original production, Versailles is co-produced by Capa Drama, Zodiak Fiction and Incendo and distributed internationally through Zodiak Rights, part of Banijay Group.
