13 REASONS WHY (Netflix) - Dylan Minnette and Katherine Langford have booked the lead roles on the small screen take on Jay Asher's novel, which "follows a boy named Clay (Minnette) through an emotional night when he receives a shoe box of cassette tapes from his late classmate and crush Hannah (Langford), after she recently committed suicide. On the tapes, which are mailed with instructions to pass along from one student to another, Hannah explains to 12 peers how they each played a role in her death, by giving 13 reasons explaining why she took her life." Also cast are Brandon Flynn (as Justin, a star basketball player with a star ego), Christian Navarro (Tony, a loner who'll always stand up for what's right), Alisha Boe (Jessica, Hannah's friend until a vicious falling-out), Justin Prentice (Bryce, a frat-boy-in-training with preppy good looks), Devin Druid (Tyler, a photographer with a wandering lens), Miles Heizer (Alex, introspective, a little arty, and deeply feeling) and Ross Butler (Zach). BLOOD DRIVE (Syfy) - Alan Ritchson (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire) has booked the male lead on the series, set in a near-apocalyptic future, about Arthur Bailey, LA's last good cop who is forced to join a twisted, gory cross-country death race - with cars powered by blood and a dangerous femme fatale partner who sees people as fuel. (Deadline.com)
DIMENSION 404 (Hulu) - Lea Michele, Robert Buckley and Ryan Lee are the first to be cast in the streaming service's upcoming anthology series. Michele and Buckley will appear in the debut installment about Amanda, "an attractive, witty, ambitious, type-A gal with a warm heart. She turns to matchmaker services to suit her rebound dating needs after a bad breakup." Lee then appears in a separate episode as Andrew, "a teenage introvert and video game addict. Secretly gay, he is viciously bullied by classmates and only finds comfort and courage at Ernie's Arcade." (Deadline.com)
MAKING HISTORY (FOX) - John Gemberling and Neil Casey have both been cast as regulars on the upcoming comedy, which follows three friends from two different centuries as they try to balance the thrill of time travel with the mundane concerns of their present-day lives. Gemberling will play John Hancock, "the boisterous, mischievous and hard-drinking founding father of America"; while Casey is set as Sam Adams, "the insecure, petty and emotional guy who will do anything to fit in with the other founding fathers." SHADES OF BLUE (NBC) - Gino Anthony Pesi's James Nava has been upped to series regular for the show's sophomore run. (Deadline.com)
