CHICAGO JUSTICE (NBC) - Michael S. Chernuchin ("Law & Order: Criminal Intent") has been tapped as the showrunner of the Dick Wolf-produced series. (Deadline.com)
DR. OZ SHOW, THE (Syndication) - Sony Pictures Television has cleared the series on the Fox Television Stations Group (including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Dallas, San Francisco, Washington D.C., Houston, Phoenix, Minneapolis, Orlando, Charlotte and Austin) through the 2018-19 television season, its 10th season in syndication. LAST KINGDOM, THE (Netflix) - The streaming service has boarded the series as a co-producer for its second season, taking over for BBC America. Production is underway on the show's sophomore run. (Deadline.com)
MAJOR CRIMES (TNT) - Jere Burns is set to guest as Eliot Chase, "a methodical and tightly wound former engineer who lost everything, including his job, wife and house, and now aims to make a bold statement against those who harmed him." (TVLine.com)
REBEL (BET) - Danielle Moné Truitt, Giancarlo Esposito, Mykelti Williamson, Cliff "Method Man" Smith and Brandon Quinn have all been cast in the John Singleton project, billed as "an extraordinary take on the seminal police drama that examines the unique and conflicted relationship officers of color have with their jobs - at a time when police forces are rife with brutality and misconduct." Truitt will play the title character, Oakland police officer, Rebecca "Rebel" Cole, who has always excelled by playing by the rules. Esposito will play her lieutenant, "who's a friend and mentor," with Williamson as Rebel's father Rene Knight, "a strong but broken man"; Smith as T.J., Rebel's ex-husband; and Quinn as Rebel's partner, Thompson "Mack" McIntyre. TRAINING DAY (CBS) - Jerry Bruckheimer Television has opted to become an independently financed operation following a 15-year run at Warner Bros. Television. Newcomer "Training Day" and sophomore entry "Lucifer" are their last series for the studio. (Variety.com)
