NEW YORK-July 7, 2016- The search is on for the best teen female soccer player in the U.S. in an all-new season of Soccer Superstar, a NickSports reality competition series, premiering Friday, July 15, at 10 p.m. (ET/PT) on Nicktoons. Hosted by gold medalist Heather Mitts, the second season of the series follows 12 elite female soccer players' journey to win the opportunity to meet and train with a National Women's Soccer League team and a shot at being the next Soccer Superstar. Soccer Superstar will air back-to-back premieres every Friday at 10 p.m. (ET/PT) for three weeks starting July 15 on Nicktoons.

Soccer Superstar follows a squad of 12 teen female soccer players, assembled after nationwide tryouts, as they compete in challenges on and off the field and face elimination by an acclaimed panel of judges: National Soccer Hall of Famer Marcelo Balboa; gold medalist Angela Hucles; and youth soccer development expert Dan Metcalfe. The players are judged on their performances in training, competitive games and various challenges including penalty kicks, bulls eye accuracy, crossbar, surfing and hip-hop dancing.

The second season of Soccer Superstar will also feature interviews with soccer professionals including members of the National Women's Soccer League--Alex Morgan, Carli Lloyd, Ali Krieger, Crystal Dunn and Kelley O'Hara--and training challenges led by former soccer professionals Karina LeBlanc and Aly Wagner along with LA Galaxy's Steven Gerrard. The players will also compete in non-soccer challenges led by guest judges including top Ladies Professional Golf Association players Danielle Kang and Belén Mozo, magician Ed Alonzo, So You Think You Can Dance runner-up Cyrus Spencer and professional surfer Anastasia Ashley.

The National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) is a 10-team Division-I women's professional soccer league featuring national team players from around the world. The ten clubs are the Boston Breakers, Chicago Red Stars, Houston Dash, FC Kansas City, Orlando Pride, Portland Thorns FC, Seattle Reign FC, Sky Blue FC, Washington Spirit and Western New York Flash.

Soccer Superstar is produced by Magic Pictures International (My Beautiful Game, Opening Night, Who Are You? Corkscrewed), Bizzy Signals Entertainment (2012 Summer Olympics--Soccer, 2015 Women's World Cup) and Mint Pictures (Bushwhacked!, Red Bull Cape Fear). The series is executive produced by Kristopher Lythgoe, Michael Cohen and Adam Kay. Soccer Superstar is based on the award winning series, Football Superstar, created by Mint Pictures and Foxtel Australia.

NickSports celebrates kids' love for the action and excitement of sports with an all-access pass to their favorite athletes, teams and leagues. Airing every Friday (9-11 p.m. ET/PT) on Nicktoons, the primetime programming block for kids and families features a lineup of original and acquired sports-themed programming including series, specials, movies and documentaries from major professional sports leagues including the NFL, MLS, NASCAR, WWE, MLB and PGA, and professional athletes.
