HISTORY'S (R) TWO-HOUR DOCUMENTARY "ISIS: RISE OF TERROR" EXPLORES THE TERRORIST ORGANIZATION'S ORIGINS AND UNIQUE IDEOLOGY SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 13 AT 9PM ET/PT
FEATURES INTERVIEWS WITH KEY U.S. POLICY MAKERS AND ISIS RECRUIT
New York, NY - November 10, 2016 - From a local militia run by a former criminal to a self-proclaimed state able to inspire horrific incidents around the world, "ISIS: Rise of Terror" reveals the genesis and growth of the group that has become the world's most feared terrorist organization. The new two-hour documentary premieres Sunday, November 13 at 9PM ET/PT on HISTORY(R).
"ISIS: Rise of Terror" examines the fateful turning points during America's war in Iraq that helped the Islamic State climb to power, expand its reign of deadly terror around the world, and fight against the present operations to roll back its territory. The program delves into the ideas that have made ISIS fighters so lethal during the Iraqi army's current campaign to recapture Mosul and the future offensive to retake Raqqa in Syria. The documentary features interviews with influential U.S. policymakers, generals and intelligence officials including two former Directors of the CIA, General David Petraeus and Michael Hayden; former Commander of the U.S. Marines in Iraq, James Mattis; former Presidential Envoy to Iraq, Paul Bremer; two former Secretaries of Defense, Leon Panetta and Chuck Hagel; two former U.S. Ambassadors to Iraq, Ryan Crocker and Zalimay Khalizad; and former Ambassador to Syria, Robert Ford.
Additionally, "ISIS: Rise of Terror" features new interviews with survivors of major ISIS terror attacks and a rare interview with ISIS recruit, Michael "Younes" Delefortrie, who is currently on probation for belonging to a terrorist group, yet is unabashed in his continued support for the Islamic State and its powerful ideology. Delefortrie provides an unflinching look inside the so-called Caliphate and the violent world view that has made the fear of terrorism a fact of daily life in the 21st century.
"ISIS: Rise of Terror" is produced for HISTORY by Lincoln Square Productions. Executive producer for Lincoln Square Productions is Terence Wrong. Kristen Burns and Russ McCarroll serve as executive producers for HISTORY(R).
