HISTORY(R) COMMEMORATES THE 75TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE ATTACK ON PEARL HARBOR WITH A WEEKEND OF PROGRAMMING INCLUDING TWO ORIGINAL SPECIALS "PEARL HARBOR: 75 YEARS LATER" PREMIERING SATURDAY, DECEMBER 3 AND "PEARL HARBOR: THE TRUTH" PREMIERING SUNDAY, DECEMBER 4

"Pearl Harbor: The Last Word" Original Short Form Series Featuring Recent Interviews with Surviving Veterans of Pearl Harbor to Air in Primetime on December 3-4

New York, NY - November 15, 2016 - HISTORY(R) marks the 75th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor with a weekend of programming commemorating the infamous day, December 7, 1941, that propelled the U.S. to declare war on Japan and launched the country into World War II. Among the original specials airing over the weekend of December 3-4 is the documentary "Pearl Harbor: The Truth" which premieres Sunday, December 4 at 10pm ET/PT and "Pearl Harbor: 75 Years Later," premiering Saturday, December 3 at 9pm ET/PT. HISTORY will also air a new original short form series, "Pearl Harbor: The Last Word," in primetime throughout the weekend. Encore presentations of the programs will air on HISTORY during the day on December 7.

"As our country marks the 75th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, we at HISTORY wanted to offer a fresh perspective of that fateful day. I think our long and short form programs accomplish that, bringing newly discovered facts to the forefront with 'Pearl Harbor: The Truth,' and giving voice to a group of ordinary Americans who as young men became participants in history with 'Pearl Harbor: The Last Word,'" said Jana Bennett, President HISTORY. "Our commemoration includes two important corporate initiatives. HISTORY is proud to be the presenting sponsor of this year's Pearl Harbor Memorial Parade in Honolulu. We have also extended our #HonoraVet social campaign which encourages viewers to submit their stories about Pearl Harbor. We will feature the stories on-air, and will make a donation to Team Rubicon for each submission received."

"Pearl Harbor: The Truth" is based upon the book, A Matter of Honor - Betrayal, Blame & a Family's Quest for Justice by Anthony Summers and Robbyn Swan. 'Smoking Gun' documents expose the serious intelligence and military blunders that allowed the early warning signs of the Japanese attack to be missed. HISTORY cracks open what some consider the scandalous cover-up concealing these errors, which made a scapegoat of Admiral H.E. Kimmel, forever damaging his career. In light of this new evidence, Kimmel's family has requested that President Obama restore Kimmel's four-star rank. The documentary also addresses the conspiracy theory that President Roosevelt knew the attack was coming. "Pearl Harbor: The Truth" is produced by Arrow Media and Handel Productions. Tom Brisley and Ashley Potterton are Executive Producers for Arrow Media. Alan Handel serves as Executive Producer for Handel Productions. Michael Stiller is Executive Producer for HISTORY.

"Pearl Harbor: 75 Years Later" takes us on a journey through the "day that will live in infamy," by exploring the biggest stories and lesser known details that still surprise us 75 years later. Accounts from experts, military minds, and even those who lived through it, will show how this tragedy continues to shape our country today. "Pearl Harbor: 75 Years Later" is produced by A+E Networks. Jim Pasquarella is Executive Producer for HISTORY.

As part of its HISTORY Saves History initiative, HISTORY produced a moving series of new, original short form pieces, "Pearl Harbor: The Last Word," which documents the experiences of some of the last living Pearl Harbor survivors. After an exhaustive search, 25 veterans ranging in age from 92-104 were interviewed, including the oldest and second oldest living survivors, Ray Chavez and Jim Downing, and the oldest living African American survivor, Nelson Mitchell. The men speak candidly about a range of topics including the horrors they witnessed the day of the attack, their thoughts on the atomic bomb, their anger with the enemy, PTSD, life before and after the attack, and other subjects. HISTORY will integrate the pieces into the network's primetime schedule over the weekend of December 3-4. HISTORY is donating the complete interviews to The Library of Congress Veterans History Project, which collects, preserves and makes accessible the personal accounts of American war veterans so that future generations may hear directly from veterans and better understand the realities of war. "Pearl Harbor: The Last Word" was produced by HSC USA for HISTORY. Kathleen Williams is Executive Producer for HISTORY.

"Pearl Harbor: The Truth," "Pearl Harbor: 75 Years Later" and "Pearl Harbor: The Last Word" will be available for viewing on demand, and via the HISTORY Watch App and History.com on December 5. The HISTORY Vault app will feature a collection of documentaries about Pearl Harbor from the HISTORY library. "Pearl Harbor: The Final Word" short form series will also be available for viewing on the HISTORY app. Additional content will also be featured on History.com, including articles and short form video pieces.

HISTORY is the presenting sponsor of the Pearl Harbor Memorial Parade, taking place in Honolulu, HI on December 7th. Over 100 Pearl Harbor survivors and Purple Heart recipients will serve as Honorary Grand Marshals along with Grand Marshal Gary Sinese. More than 100,000 spectators are expected to watch this year's parade, which gives the public the opportunity to honor and pay respect to the Pearl Harbor survivors, our veterans, active duty military and their families.

As part of its Pearl Harbor commemoration, HISTORY is extending a Veterans Day initiative that invites viewers and social fans to submit photos and stories of the veterans in their lives using the hashtag, #HonorAVet. The content will be featured in social posts and in on-air bumpers, with Pearl Harbor-focused stories highlighted on-air during the broadcast of "Pearl Harbor: The Truth" and "Pearl Harbor: 75 Years Later" over the weekend of December 3-4. HISTORY will make a donation to Team Rubicon (www.teamrubiconusa.org) for each submission received.
