EMPIRE (FOX) - Nia Long ("Uncle Buck") is set to recur on the current season as Giuliana (Giusi), "a queenpin who runs a club in Las Vegas and makes brash moves in the gangster underworld of New York to secure a deal with Empire. Sleek, sexy, and cold-blooded, she rubs elbows with Lucious (Terrence Howard) and goes toe-to-toe with Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) even as she reckons with her own mysterious past." (Deadline.com)
GOTHAM (FOX) - James Remar has been tapped to play Frank Gordon, Jim's (Ben McKenzie) uncle, on the current third season: "Frank abandoned the family after Jim's father's fatal car crash and now, 25 years later, he's returned to reconnect with his estranged nephew. But Frank harbors a dark secret, one that will upset the very foundations of Jim's world and force him into a terrible choice between saving his family and saving his city." (Deadline.com)
HEATHERS (TV Land) - Shannen Doherty, who starred as Heather Duke in the original 1988 film, will guest star in the pilot as "a pivotal unnamed character." (Deadline.com)
JANE THE VIRGIN (The CW) - Elisabeth Rohm has booked a recurring role on the series as Eileen, "a guru who is soft-spoken, exuding tranquility - and dating Luisa (Yara Martinez)." (Deadline.com)
LIFE IN PIECES (CBS) - Molly Shannon is slated to guest star on the series as Allie, "a private chef who is hired by Jen (Zoe Lister-Jones) and Greg (Colin Hanks) to cook them a romantic Valentine's Day dinner, but when she has too much to drink, everything goes haywire." (Variety.com)
LOST IN SPACE (Netflix) - Parker Posey has signed onto the streaming service's reboot of the cult classic series as Dr. Smith. No other details were given. (Deadline.com)
MONARCHY IS GOING TO SH*T, THE (Freeform, New!) - Amy Reed has sold a single-camera comedy to the cable channel which "centers on the Monarchy of Andova, which is thrust into disarray when the king's newly discovered illegitimate son is named as the rightful heir to the throne, effectively seizing the title from the king's daughter, who has prepared her entire life to become the nation's first reigning queen." That's Wonderful Productions' Jim Parsons and Todd Spiewak are also on board to executive produce for Warner Horizon Television. Reed will serve as a co-executive producer. (THR.com)
NIGHT SHIFT, THE (NBC) - Ken Leung has opted not to return for the show's recently ordered fourth season. He played original cast member Dr. Christopher "Topher" Zia. (Deadline.com)
SALAMANDER (ABC, New!) - Andre Nemec and Jeff Pinkner ("Zoo") have sold a domestic take on the 2012 Belgian series to the Alphabet about "a brilliant but misanthropic engineer who recruits a skeptical female FBI therapist to help him track a mysterious bank robber whose theft of 66 specific safety deposit boxes, belonging to the rich and powerful, sets in motion a series of blackmails that may be linked to a greater conspiracy." Midnight Radio's Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg will also executive produce for ABC Studios, Keshet Studios and Beta Films. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED BRECKIN MEYER PROJECT (ABC, New!) - Breckin Meyer ("Men at Work") has sold a new comedy to the Alphabet about "a newly single dad as he attempts to navigate fatherhood and the modern world of dating all while living in the guesthouse of his ex-wife's new man." ABC Studios-based Bluegrass Fanfare is behind the half-hour with Jamie Tarses and Scott Stuber likewise executive producing. (Deadline.com)
VISUAL INTELLIGENCE (FOX, New!) - Writers Liz Garcia and Josh Harto ("Memphis Beat") are set to team with director Mark Pellington ("Blindspot") for a new drama inspired by Amy Herman's book about "using works of art to help experts from many fields in the art of perception." 20th Century Fox Television is behind the hour with Pellington attached to direct from a script he'll co-write alongside Garcia and Harto.
