SPIKE SETS "CARAOKE SHOWDOWN" FOR JANUARY 12
New Series Hosted by Craig Robinson and
Executive Produced by Howie Mandel
New York, NY, December 8, 2016 - Spike is gearing up for a wild ride with the premiere of "Caraoke Showdown" on Thursday, January 12 at 10:30 PM, ET/PT following a new episode of "Lip Sync Battle." This party-on-wheels has the ultimate emcee in host, actor, and comedian Craig Robinson who literally drives the fun-filled ride that gives unsuspecting passengers the trip of their lives.
"Caraoke Showdown" takes groups of passengers on a musical journey to win money by competing in a variety of karaoke-style challenges. Throughout various rounds of game play, contestants compete for cash by belting out their favorite tunes, finishing lyrics or acting out songs. Also adding to the "anything can happen" atmosphere of "Caraoke Showdown," special guests hop in from time to time and help our singers win big.
This musical trip isn't just confined to inside the "caraoke." Gameplay can take contestants on to the street recruiting pedestrians (and total strangers!) in a variety of music-related challenges. Each episode ends when the two teams with the most prize money 'crash' an event at surprise locations. The finalists then must perform karaoke in front of a crowd that ultimately gets to determine the grand prize winner.
Howie Mandel serves as Executive Producer along with Alice Dickens-Koblin, Peter Herschko, Brian Veskosky and CORE Media Group serves as the production company. Craig Robinson also serves as Executive Producer on "Caraoke Showdown."
Craig Robinson is best known for his role as the acerbic Dunder-Mifflin employee Darryl Philbin on NBC's Emmy-winning "The Office." Currently, he can be seen in the second season of USA Network's critically acclaimed "Mr. Robot" in a recurring role. He also recently won the Sundance Actor Award for his standout performance in the Award-winning entry, "Morris From America." The renowned actor and comedian's credits include NBC's "Mr. Robinson," HBO's "Eastbound and Down," and feature films "Pineapple Express," "Hot Tub Machine," "Zack and Miri Make A Porno," "This Is The End," and "Peeples."
Sharon Levy is Spike's Executive Vice President, Original Series, Chachi Senior is Senior Vice President of Original Programming for Spike, and Tori Socha, Vice President of Original Series, oversees "Caraoke Showdown."
